Hey guys, just wondering if there is anyone who can help or relate to a problem i'm experiencing at the moment. I feel on my own on this one as all those around me have no idea about these matters or experienced anything similar themselves.

It all started when I had visited hospital because I had a strange numbness in my heart and left arm, this followed after a weekend party where I had taken some stimulant drugs and later after the effects wore off I smoked some weed. They checked me out, gave me fluids, took ECGs and Blood tests that came back fine and let me go, valuable lesson learned. Since then I have had a number of similar experiences, which come as the result of the most minute things, such as a little alcohol or even the first cigarette of the day. I went to see my local doctor about it and he seems to think i'm suffering from anxiety/panic attacks as a result of the first experience, as he says its taking little to trigger the memory, then it manifests in the physical. Then he prescribed me beta blockers.

A little over a month has elapsed since and I have had 1 'panic attack' since, which was just a few days ago and this was very intense. I had increased heart rate and it was beating with an incredible pulse, but I could also feel what I can only describe as electrical tension in areas of my body with my heart being the centre of it, as I was trying to control my breathing I felt this intense electric shock, coming from my heart. This shock came in an instant and decayed in about 2-3 seconds, I felt it reach many parts of my body including my brain, and my heart was beating very rapidly after. It was very scary and probably the worst one yet. I used to work as an electrician, I have had many electric shocks in the past and this I will definitely put down to some sort of electric shock. Since then I have not felt totally comfortable, now and again I feel like i'm teetering on the edge of another experience of some kind because I sometimes feel a spike in electrical activity in my heart. I am due a visit to the dentist as I have learned that problems with particular teeth can play havoc with the nervous system and even cause heart problems, its just I have a little under 2 weeks until a check up then I will have to wait for another appointment to begin treatment. I do need some dental treatment because I have had tooth come out that has not been seen to, and that could be the problem although I can't be sure of it totally until its checked out.

I was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or know of this and if so, is there anything that could be of help to me. I am a bit worried as these experiences get more intense each time.

Thank You, Kelvin.

Hi Kevin, you need to let your dentist know you have been feeling these "electrical shocks". The hygenist should ask you if your health has changed at all and this would be a good opportunity to come out in the open. Also my husband had very similar pains the last 6 months or so and recently saw his cardiologist. They did the standard tests: ECG, EKG, stress test. All came back fine. However my husband pushed for an angiogram. He is a type 1 diabetic and also suffers from sleep apnea (all point to heart attack and strokes) so he really is on top of his health wherever he has control of it. The angiogram was performed in the hospital and was relatively quick, the doctor did find an artery that was blocked 80% so he had to put a stent in it. I am glad that my husband was persistent about his health and openly voiced his concerns to his cardiologist. I think doctors respect patients who are responsible for their own health as well. Either way, we are relieved to have my husband with us today and not have to wait for a heart attack to happen. I hope my information helps, maybe you need to see a cardiologist and talk about the pros and cons of an angiogram. All the best.
