SAME! I haven't even wanted food. After I got it I didn't eat more than a granola bar or two a day for like a week.

I've been on Nuva Ring for almost a year now and absolutely LOVE it. My period last about three days with no cramps and not even enough blood for a regular tampon. I do cramp a bit a few days before. I've lost probably 10 pounds since using it, when I put the ring in I notice an aversion to many foods. So it's literally been amazing, better periods and I lose weight. My first birth control I've ever tried and probably my last

So, I've tried the pill and nuvaring. I stopped taking the pill about four years ago and I lost about 20 lbs (I really don't think it was related to the pill, just bad lifestyle choices). When I was in college, I only ate about once a day and was constantly on my feet and lost 30 lbs without any kind of birth control, in two months. I weighed in around 137 lbs at 5'3 and I was finally at a healthy weight, but I got there with unhealthy decisions. In the last two years, I've gained it all back and was stuck at about 174 lbs. I started eating a (mostly) paleo diet and exercised with both cardio and resistance training and could only lose about 4 lbs. I finally decided it was time to start birth control again and I got on the ring. I've had it in for about a week now and lost four pounds-weight that I just COULD NOT seem to get rid of before and that was with pretty regular eating. Granted, I've been still staying away from most breads and cheeses, and I have experienced VERY mild nausea, but nothing else has really changed. My periods without birth control weren't very consistent, and sometimes I experienced horrible cramps and excessive clotting. Weight gain is something I've always struggled with, as well as consistently unbeatable fatigue, and I have in the past experienced occasional mild depression and mood swings.

So, in my opinion (I am not a doctor, so don't take too much stock in what I'm saying), if before you start birth control, you don't have problems with depression, mood swings, rough periods, fatigue, and weight gain, there's a good chance your body balances your natural hormones. If you then start hormonal birth control, you will likely experience some negative side effects at least for a while until your body can regulate the new influx of hormones.

If you struggle with weight, mood swings, etc. BEFORE taking birth control, your body may have a hard time regulating your hormones on its own and birth control may actually help you regulate your hormones, lose weight and have better menstrual cycles. I've struggled on and off again with non-cancerous ovarian cysts and fibrotic breasts. Birth control always seemed to stop the cysts from forming both in my breasts and ovaries during my cycle, so I think my body just has a difficult time regulating my hormones.

P.S. if the above is true for you as well, my tip would be that ESPECIALLY if you're taking hormonal birth control and you're vegetarian, you really may want to consider quitting the consumption of tofu, soy milk, and other plant-based proteins and switch to almond milk and maybe try eating fish and chicken, or possibly consider scrapping all plant-based protein(only because it's typically made with soy) and opting for a 100% fresh vegetable option with whey protein powder drinks. Tofu and soy milk especially contain estrogen which will further upset your hormonal balance and promote weight gain, tender breasts, and acne. Of course, this isn't true for everyone, but it's been a pretty common theme with me and several friends of mine. All five of my friends who became vegetarian to lose weight actually gained SIGNIFICANT weight. I don't know what your moral conviction with meat is, but you're far more likely to lose weight and develop lean muscle mass with animal protein than with plant protein.

If you're curious about the workout regime and diet I've been following to lose weight, check out The Badass Body Diet by Christmas Abbott. I really like it because it breaks everything down by your body type and helps you to understand the chemical breakdowns of food and how it affects your body/energy. And while I've had difficulty losing weight up until this point, I have noticed a dramatic change in my body composition, having developed lean muscle and toning up my cellulite-y legs.

I've been using nuvaring for almost 3 months now, I have experienced weight loss (like 8 pounds), and my breasts did get a little bigger but they are already big (DD or E) and I have a petite frame so its annoying. But what I have noticed is that they do not swell larger or hurt like they used to before my period so I will take it. My only side effect I had in the beginning was extreme fatigue to the point where I could hardly stay awake, but after the first couple weeks and lots of caffeine my body adjusted and I love it.

I've lost so much weight on nuvaring, I feel wobderful.
My question to you is did you ever suffer with ovarian cysts?
My doctor has me in the ring to normalize my hormones. I've had so many pregnancy synptoms.
I'm just wondering if you suffer from the same symptoms.

I am on the nuvaring. I actually already have always had a problem maintaining my weight. I am 5'7 and my weight usually is between 125-129. I am trying to gain weight and when I use my ring for the 3 weeks. I notice my appetite is decreased so much more than when I take it out for the week when I have my period. I also am eating about 2,000 calories a day just to maintain my weight. Very frustrating

I have been on and off this method for many years of my adult life. The stress will make you gain weight before the ring does. It stabilizes hormones and for me it just makes me more balanced and happy. I lose weight on it and my anxiety levels are very low
