Recent research found interesting fact that people who have one or two drinks per day and had a heart attack in past have smaller chances for having another one in the future. Some of the earlier researches found that moderate alcohol can be helpful in preventing heart disease but this new study is supposed to show that alcohol could be beneficial for those who already suffer from heart disease.

This new study showed that patients who continue drinking after heart attack have 40% less chance of having another one and those who stopped drinking had almost 5 times more chance of dying from heart disease when compared to non drinkers of long standing.

Study also found that long – term abstainers were 20% more likely to have another heart attack than moderate drinkers. Drinks which may be helpful in preventing heart attack are wine or spirits but beer raised the risk of another heart attack by 50%.
