I have both osteopenia and polycythemia. I was taking protaxos or protelos 2gm before I was diagnosed of having polycythemia vera. I stopped taking this medication when I change country of abode. Now again, my husband and I transferred to another country ( his nature of work is nomadic ) and again my present doctor is prescribing back protelos which is protaxos here. I read the leaflet that comes with it and contraindicative to people who are taking anti coagulants and are at risks of having vein thrombosis, in which plycythemia is like vein clotting desease. I bought the mentioned medication already which by the way is very expensive but I put it onhold before I am clreared of taking it. Both my hematologist and gynecologist are on holidays.

Hi there, I think that it is probably good not to take it until you clear it up. I don't think I would advise you take it until you talk to either one of them, although you can speak to a pharmacist about it too. Have ou considered that?
