I know this post is about a reply to a post that is over a year old. But I am here to tell you: Be very, very careful with Oxycontin no matter what. Get away from it as soon as your pain lessens and you can step down to a less strong medication. The evil that this drug can bring down in so many different ways that there isn't enough space to tell it all, so here is the short version: When the Drs. give you the little pink 20mgs and that no longer works they will go to the beige 40's. next comes this army light green 80mg tab. Then the day comes when your at your Dr appt and your waiting for that written RX of 80's, instead your doc tells you he's taking you off the Oxy's and putting you on something way below oxycontin strength. This is when the fun starts. You find out that you can buy them off the streets for about a dollar a mg. That means an 80mg oxy is gonna cost you 80 bucks! Scared yet? You'll swear you would never pay it, until in a day and a half your justifying how you can buy a pill or 2. Once you've wiped out your savings (and you will), you will do what every Oxy addict does, they try heroin for the first time in their life, because they have to feed that beast or be so "dope sick" they cant take it. The long and short of it is this drug will take everything you cherish, your spouse & children, your bank account, your employment, everything and everybody you love and loves you. This drug was meant for cancer patients or the terminally, but the pharmacudial companies convinced doctors all over thr nation that it was an effective pai killer for just about everything. ayou have the right frame of mind, be careful, and I do mean watch yourself like a hawk, and dont you ever give anyone one of those pills! A person who isn't injured and has no pain, this drug is so strong, it can kill in it's smallest doses. Its Aug. of 2013 and the DEA along with the Drs, who have seen countless overdoses attributed to this drug have really cracked down on how many and how long they keep someone on this drug. I wish you the very best, but number one, follow your instincts.....your right in being afraid of this drug. Stay strong.
