Hey there. I've been having similar pain since about 3 weeks postpartum and I'm now 3.5 months postpartum. The pain is specifically when I bend forward and sometimes backward. Have you found any relief for this besides yoga? I've been going to PT and massage therapy for about a month, really hoping this problem subsides. Would love to know how yours is doing!

I have two children. Both born vaginally. I opted for epidural with both deliveries. I always planned to deliver all natural, but had complications and adding the epidurals allowed by body to relax so I could dilate to allow for delivery. After the first epidural I experience periodic stiffness in my back around the injection site, especially during rainy and cold weather, but no real pain. After my second epidural I had no problems until 15 months later. One day I woke up with what I thought was a bruise at the exact site of injection. I used a mirror to check for bruising and found nothing. There are no lumps or knots. When I push on it I can pinpoint the pain within two vertebra. It feels like pushing on a bruise. When I lay in bed I feel it. When I twist I feel it. The worse sensation is to bend at the waist. That makes the pain radiate wider. I do not understand why I had no pain for over a year, but now it is constant, everyday. It hasn't gotten worse, but it has not went away. It is manageable, but annoys and slows me down. I can't understand why the sore bruised feeling came on all the sudden and has not ceased in weeks.

I have the same issue, specifically when I bend forward or back or do any movement that puts strain on that area of my spine. Have you gotten better since you posted this?

I have the exact issue. My son was born April 2013 and last couple days Its been bothering me a lot. It hurts and makes me grouchy! The epidural didn't seem to work that great either. It Just tapered down my contractions for a time...but wore off while giving birth! Doctors won't fix anything. ..Just give u drugs or tell u ur imagining things...or that they haven't seen it before. Such BS! I didn't even bother going to see the doc. We are probably better off with natural therapies. I had my second child, a girl , in march of 2015, no epidural( I was 8 cm dialated when I got there and couldn't hold still for the epidural ) and I was back on my feet immediately..no recovery time...no issues. Maybe an osteopath could help?

What about when it lasts for years? I had my son over 3 years ago! They don't know enough about the side effects of epidurals! I think they do more harm than good in the long run!

It's been over 36 years since I had a spinal epidural before giving birth by C section. I still experience pain at the site! It happens about 4 or 5 times a year and lasts for about 3 days. I wish I could give everyone hope of it going away but I can't. I can't stand up straight during these times either.

I had my daughter 20 years ago. The epidural pain was far worse then the episiotomy. I could not have the spot touch anything for months! I still have pain there. Not all the time but it's really annoying!!

I can put my finger on the exact spot of the epidural and still feel pain. After 36 years, I have no doubt that it will last my lifetime. My C section was performed at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville. They're very famous for their excellent health care, so it's no blame to the doctors. It's just a fact of spinal epidurals and I wasn't told about it.
Sorry, but I'm sure your pain will last like mine has.

I think it is from the epidural...I had epidurals with all my kids ( 3 ) oldest is 16 years old and I have a sharp shooting spot right at the injection site..it's not my whole back but just a small area....I know my body it is from the epidural...

Oh heck you described it perfectly. Yea yes yes to what you are saying. I had one 12 years ago and it is very intense around my period too. I can tell you thee exact area to the T where the needle was. It feels like a fist in my back and pressure. A dull ache. A bruise pain inside my spine. I can tell you when its going to rain also from it. It is from the epidural. I had a csection.

Please share if you have found out any answers. I have the same thing happening. I've had 5 children, last one 5 years ago. They did have to redo the epidural after the first was botched. Was sore for several months but then went away. The pain returned about 5mo ago and continues to intensify. They did an X-ray and nothing. Should I ask for MRI or PET? I can't ignore it anymore.
