I had hemorrhoid banding done last week... I have no clue on how many since I wasn't even told they were going to do it nor was I told of any medication to take except for analpram which was prescribed.  It was painful for about three days but then was fine except for random intense itching which burns.  It has woken me up every day since and is even worse at night.  I've been using the analpram which actually burns like a s.o.b. when applying but stops after a few minutes, but even that feels like it is doing nothing.  Based on searching it appears that it takes 1-2 weeks for it to fall off and take affect but is the itching normal?

Hello Dadof3.... I was always told when I was a kid that if a wound is healing, it will itch.  Maybe this is the case with you, too.  Perhaps you can sit in a warm sitz bath of oatmeal to soothe the itching or find a medication that will help with it.  I think if you do both remedies, you will find relief.  Eventually, it should begin to stop itching on its own.  Perhaps some hemorroidal pads will be soothing as well.

Are there any forum readers who have had the hemorrhoid banding and experienced intense itching afterwards?  What did you do to help the itching?

Hello and thanks for the reply.  The itching got so bad I began googling everything.  I tried sitz baths and several other things.  The baths began burning which I thought was odd and finally went to the regular dotor only to find out that I was allergic to the cortisone in analpram (never had an allergic reaction to medicine before), I had developed cysts due to scratching the itch that were causing the pain, and to add insult to injury I had a pinworm infection that may have been the cause of the original discomfort that led to the banding to begin with.  Since being removed from the analpram and getting treated for the pinworms the itching has subsided a great deal.  There is still a minor itch that things like Gold Bond help that I hope will no longer be needed once the final hemorrhoid is banded... just a lot of things that I wish I knew or that they would have checked for before this ordeal began.

It is almost three weeks since my hemorrhoid surgery. The pain has pretty well subsided, but the itching is getting a little annoying. Are there any creams to suggest?
