I noticed a hemorrhoid sometime in January. It would pop out after every bowel movement and I shoved it back in. In April, I had a really uncomfortable bowel movement and it hurt really bad. It would no longer go back in and stayed out and was painful. I went to the doctors and had it removed on April 22nd. The doctor stated that it wasn't a very big one but there was a clot.

Day 1: Wasn't too bad; I had a bowel movement later in the day and it had a small amount of blood. Stung afterwards.

Day 2: Another BM; not too much pain, but a lot of blood.

Day 5: I had a significant amount of swelling and was in so much pain. I had a bad BM and it hurt even more. I started to feel like I was going to vomit and started to get the chills. I almost went to the ER. The swelling was significant.

Day 6: I had to take the day off work. The pain was bad the entire day and a BM hurt with some blood. The swelling went down just a little.

Day 7: The swelling went down a good bit, but OMG the itching was so intolerable.

Days 8-9: The swelling went down even more and the itching continued to a point to where it was downright nauseating.

Day 10: First day having a BM without any blood.

Day 13: Didn't notice any more swelling and didn't notice any trace of a skin tag. However, the next day at the doctor's appointment she stated that there was a skin tag left over.

Day 20: The skin tag is still there. It disappears into the anus at some points during the day only to come back out later. I've been applying aloe to it. It's still uncomfortable to bend over and pick things off the floor or crouch down and it irritates the skin tag.

All I think about is getting this damn skin tag the hell out of my life. It disappears sometimes and comes back out of hiding later. It gets irritated if I'm not lying down the entire day. I can feel it and it encompasses my mind my entire awaking hours.

Since the surgery, I've limited my diet to fish, oatmeal, yogurt, brocolli, nutrition bars, whole grain spaghetti, fiber one muffins, and 4-5 chewable fiber tablets a day. It's seemed to help with the BM's. I started to run again every day 3-4 miles. I'm sure this is inflaming my skin tag, but I really needed to get up and back to some semblance of normality in my life.

I had a hemorrhoid a few years ago and I believe they did rubber banding back then. That hemorrhoid hurt 10x worse and I don't remember any recovery at all. I believe that I was fine a few days later without any pain whatsoever. I'm wondering why my current doctor didn't do the rubber banding, because I don't remember any pain or any skin tags left over.

Has anyone out there had the skin tag left over completely go away. This thing drives me insane and I cannot have this thing long term. It needs to go. I would be getting it removed if it doesn't go away but I'm not sure how much time to give it to go away before opting for that surgery.

How long did it take for anyone to have a skin tag go completely away? Has anyone else had the experience of having the skin tag go away (go into hiding) for a portion of the day only to see it again later in the day?
