Persistant urinary and vaginal problems

I'm an 18 year old girl and it seems like vagina hasn't been happy for quite some time. I never had any problems till I got my first yeast infection one or two years ago(due to wearing a wet bathing suit for a prolonged time). Ever since then it seems like it has been one thing after the other. For a while I would get the most terrible bladder infections in which I would not be able to sleep and would just sit in hot baths to remedy it. I have also been getting frequent "yeast infections" (self-diagnosis). It just seems like my vagina hasn't been perfectly healthy since that first yeast infection. I plan on going to a see a gyno the first appt that is availble..What kind of things should I say so I don't just get the "yeast infection" answer that seems all so common. My gut tells me this seems serious..Oh and I am also sexually active..But he's the only one I've ever had sex with.
