I am just diganosed with a 13mm pineal cyst. I have the following symptoms: constant tension in my forehead. When reading, I find it hard to focus on the small font. Sometimes I feel the weakness like shortness of breath, dizziness, and nervousness. So far, it has not been too bad. I am wondering about the future. I still play tennis, it seems that when I am playing tennis, it is alright.

I have a 1cm pineal glad cyst with major side effects. I have had a migraine now for 4 weeks(9 days of that has been spent hospitalized due to enlarged blood vessels in the back of my left eye). During this time I have tried every drug on the market that I can for migraines(i am somewhat limited due to stomach ulcers and a ongoing gi bleed). I am wondering where I can find out more information about these cysts, i have had mine for 7 years now and it has just now become a huge problem. I actually had to move back in with my parents because i haven't been able to take care of myself for a month now. because of this i am away from my regular dr and won't be able to get back for a month. I am wondering if anyone had ever heard of these cysts bursting? is that even possible? I have had other cysts in my body and when they burst it was rather painful, so thats what I'm starting to think has happend. if anyone could offer any advice i would really appreciate it because i honeslty think i am dying .

Hi there, have you found out if you are able to get surgery for it? I don't know about cysts in the brain bursting as much but I don't believe they're as prone to, mostly because of where they're located. Can you let me know if you've considered surgery? Thanks!

i was diagnosed first with a pituatary tumor over 2 years ago, then after about 18months and 10 nuerologists thay said it was just an anomaly on my pituatary but i did have a small 7mm cyst on my pineal gland. they told me it was nothing but to come back to ucsf every year for monitoring, after reading your blogs im now seeing the symptoms ive been experiencing for years may be linked to this cyst and anonmaly on my pituatary. its that time of year again togo to ucsf nurology, im going with a list of symptoms and i want more answers this time, if i get any ill be sure to share them. this is always a scary time for me but i feel better knowing im not the only one out there going throught this and being told by the doctors that it is nothing.

I recently had a consult with a Neurosurgeon and was diagnosed with a 1.3 cm symptomatic Cyst. He gave me about 5 min of his precious time in which he wrote me a prescription for pain medication (which doesn’t Help). This all started with me going to my Dr with what she diagnosed as cluster migraines. The headaches varied in how painful they were but my real concern was the vision problems. After being on steroids for 10 days (that did nothing) I then had a Ct and MRI and thus the consult. My work is suffering, my home life is suffering and all the neurosurgeon could say was Its not life threatening and you could have the same symptoms from high blood pressure (which I have never had in my life). I take a muscle relaxer so I can get a little bit of sleep at night and imitrex as soon as the spots start and now a pain medication. The only thing that helps a little is the muscle relaxer. So I guess its hopeless….?

im an 18 year old girl and today i found out ive got a 3mm cyst on my pineal gland. ive been suffering for 9 months already. i never knew what was wrong with me, i just felt crazy and no one could really understand what it was. "did you eat today" "do you need water" "go to sleep".. "NO, ITS NOT LIKE THAT"
it started with experiecing very odd visual disturbances, auditive trouble, confusion, severe headaches, "waking up feeling hung over" [as a previous person said], HORRRRIBLE DREAMS, extreme stress, severe depression, and im not even lying- psychic and out of body experiences. soon i also felt very sensitive to things- heavy sound, heat, cold, vibration, light, etc. the visual disturbances [which i now believe to be vertigo] would mostly affect me as i was driving, going under bridges, walking up stairs, sitting passenger seat. it was like my brain couldnt keep up with my physical mobility, nor could my eyes. it would leave me thoughtless and confused. and nervous. i also have twitching in my fingers feet and neck. and i do have the common feelings of the headache, fatigue, pressure around eyes, seasonal problems, memory loss, etc.
i went to the doctor got blood- i was fine. i wanted a neurologist but people thought i was overreacting, blamed it on my eating and weight [lost 30 pounds during time period]. then in june as i was laying restless in bed all night the feeligns were BAD almost as worse as theyve ever been, then i had a seizure. went for mri. the doctors didnt follow up with me. today, mid august, i finally found out the problem.
im VERY interested in peoples feelings of vertigo. and even more interested in if anyone has felt the psychic, esp, out of body, etc tendencies? i hope im not THAT crazy. please share with me!! %-) !

First off, I am so glad that I am not weird or abnormal. I am 15, going on 16, and I was told that I had a 1.3 CM Pineal Cyst not long before my fifteenth birthday.
I have always had bad headaches for as long as I can remember, but when they started affecting my vision, we got an MRI. You would think that with my mother being specialized in CT's and MRI's at Lebonheur, we would've gone a lot sooner.
I had always had perfect vision until just a couple years ago, but now I am slightly near sighted, and I tend to get optic migraines (Where my peripheral vision will sometimes go almost all the way out). I am in the Marching band, and it can get real scary when you can't see your surroundings.
The doctors told me it was no big deal, invest in some glasses, and to see a neurologist. I have been on several medicines, and they all worked temporarily, but soon just stopped. I was even put on Anti-depressants for chronic pain, but I just couldn't carry on with a medicine that did me no good.
Today I am still told that it is perfectly normal, and that everything will get better. Today, not only do my migraines continue, but I often have loss of appetite, and I can never seem to stay asleep for long periods of time (Which I suppose would lead to fatigue when you put the two together), impaired vision, and on rare events I get dizzy spells.
I am not currently on any medication, because I have yet to find one that is strong enough.
We have tried to figure out where or when I could've developed the cyst. More than likely I was born with it. However, when I was younger, Just beginning to get the whole crawling concept down, I fell backwards down five or so concrete steps and hit my head. We went to the hospital and I had a cerebral bleed. They wanted to cut a hole in my head to relieve pressure, but my grandmother, also working in the medical field, refused to let them, demanded that we wait out a few more ours, and needed a second opinion. Sure enough, the bleeding did go down, and I was given some medicine (which later on, once I was taken home, put me into a seizure and then it was back to the hospital, but I was fine) and sent home.

I have a 6mm cystic pineal lesion and experience constant headaches with the most pain behind my eyes. I also experience extreme insomnia and daytime fatigue. I have other symptoms- nausea, neck/shoulder/face pain, and occasional vertigo. The only response I have gotten about it from my multiple doctors is that it is common upon autopsy! Talk about unhelpful! I wish you the best...

I too have a pineal cyst, about twice as large as they normally get---according to doctors, BUT also according to doctors, there is no proof that it is causing any of the symptoms I am having. THAT I don't believe. I've been dealing with vertigo (almost constant), balance issues, headaches, fatigue, sleep problems etc. for a while and it seems to be getting worse and worse. Finally, I had an MRI where they found the cyst but told me it was harmless...though when I looked online for others with the cyst (particularly when it is larger than normal), I see that people share VERY similar symptoms as I. It is a nightmare, particularly the constant vertigo and balance issues, with leg weakness...I used to be VERY active, and now all I want to do is lay on the couch (where I STILL experience vertigo). The head pain is hard to deal with, and I too have sleeping issues....can't fall asleep until VERY late at night, don't really stay asleep too well, and have a hard time getting up in the morning because I am so drowsy. I was wondering about the vertigo for others who have pineal cysts...is it very severe, like mine is, is it almost constant (with variations in severity), and has it taken away a lot of the joy in your life, like it has for me...(I'm a male; 38 years old)

I also have a pineapple cyst 9mm, I have been very tired all the time also. I can sleep 8-10 hrs and still feel tired, thank God for coffee. I have light headache through out the day and ringing in my ears. Having trouble concentrating and seasonal depression. I also have a 9mm meningioma in my left frontal lobe. But no big deal, too small not causing symptoms. I think to a Dr. Symptoms must have to be severe to call them symptoms I guess. It's easier for them to give us some pills and send us on our way to shut us up.

I was admitted into the hospital because they thought I was having strokes but later determined I was not with an mri they discovered a pineal cyst and now I have had several mris to monitor this cyst which is about 4cm. Do you feel like your nervous system is hypersensitive when you have these headaches with the stroke like symptoms? Does it hurt for someone to touch your leg or arm? I have these "episodes" that sound very similar to yours. I typically have a chronic headache but the episodes result in mixed up speech, EXTREME pain in legs and arms ( right side mostly) and of course the ultra migraine. I have said for at least 8 of the last 12 years all I need is something to relieve the pressure in my head. Finally, I had an MRI approved and there is a cyst. I have second MRI in a week tomorrow. I hope you find some relief. I truly KNOW your pain and mental state after trying to get someone to do something for so long. It's maddening.

I am 31 yr old female diagnosed witha 5x10mm pineal cyst. Report says it is making a minimal indentation on the superior colliculus. I have had severe head pain every second of my life for the past year+. My eyes feel like someone is trying to twist them from way deep in my head. I get dizzy all the time, cannot fall asleep..when i do sleep, i sleep for 10+ hours and wake up feeling as though i never slept. I have severe daytime fatigue. Just going to the grocery store does me in. Neck pain and stiffness along with head pain is dibilitating several times a week. I have done intensive care with a super chiropractor, taken neurontin, and various OTC migraine medicines. NOTHING HELPS!! I do have an appt with NS next week and am expecting him to say he cannot help, as this seems to be the norm. Any advice here?? I feel as though I am losinng my mind.................. >:(
