I understand your concern about your child's progress with CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) lenses, which are similar to orthokeratology (ortho-K) lenses. It's important to note that the effectiveness of CRT lenses can vary from person to person, and not everyone achieves a prescription of zero. Several factors can influence the outcome, including the initial prescription, the child's eye shape, and how consistently the lenses are worn.
Here are a few things to consider and discuss with your eye care professional:
-
Time Frame: Two months may not be a sufficient period to see the final results of CRT treatment. It can take several months for some individuals to reach their desired prescription.
-
Prescription Stability: It's a positive sign that your child's prescription has decreased from 5D to 2-2.5D. Although it hasn't reached zero, this reduction indicates progress. The extent to which the prescription can be reduced may vary among individuals.
-
Consistency: Ensure that your child is wearing the CRT lenses as prescribed and following all care instructions diligently. Consistency in lens wear is crucial for the success of the treatment.
-
Regular Check-Ups: Continue to have regular follow-up appointments with your eye care professional. They can monitor the progress and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
-
Realistic Expectations: It's important to have realistic expectations. Not all individuals will achieve a prescription of zero with CRT lenses. The goal is often to reduce the dependence on daytime glasses or contact lenses.
Remember that every individual's eyes respond differently to CRT treatment, and it may take more time for some people to achieve their desired results.
Good luck!
