I’ve developed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that was caused by prolonged smoking, as my doctor said. I have had non-productive cough and shortness of breath. These symptoms were not that harmful for me. I was suggested to quit smoking, of course. What’s the prognosis for this pulmonary disease? Is it progressive? I’m 45 years old and am in good shape.

I was diagnosed copd too. I continued smoking, and soon it got worsen. I developed lung infection and had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks. You should keep your self in good shape and quit smoking immediately. I was on aminophilline infusion, lying helpless in hospital and I really wouldn’t like it to happen again.
