Hey guys i have been off effexor for nearly 2 years. My visions still not the best more so in my right eye. How i know its effexor? If i ever missed a pill my eyes would spasm/shake side to side really fast... Really hard to explain. But on two occasions i took a pill at night after stopping because i felt really really strange and both nights i woke with a pretty intense pain in the right eye, the 2nd night was weird AF like a twisting sensation in the back of my head the right side were my sight is much worse than my left and the eye doesnt feel right. I want a brain scan but docs say too dangerous??? Im worried because my memorys really bad now too. I had near perfect eyesight and memory before this ass of a drug i feel doomed like i have no purpose i want it to end but something inside myself wont allow me to kill myself.

I have been using teva venlafaxine for about 6 months or so. I had problem only with one eye where it felt there was pressure. I noticed I could not see well out of one eye. I to gained 25lbs during the period of time and cannot get it off. My eye before taking the medication was like a hawk. Perffect vision. Doctor was concern with the he pressure and s not me to an eye specialist. He sent me to do a CT scan and a MRI. It appears there is no tumour. Good thing! But the cannot explain why I felt this way and why the sudden eye loss. I have been off the drug for about 8 months now hoping my vision would return. Nothing.

Wow right eye also!. Is your vision bad when reading something? My right eye wont focus even after blinking. But left eye does. Also does the right eye feel strange sometimes kind of heavy hard to explain. Mine gets a little achey/sore not painfully sore but definitely uncomfortable. And does anyone know what else could be causing disturbed vision in one eye its driving me nuts? ....Im sure the venlafaxine did it though. But if someone knows anything would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hello Everyone,
I started Effexor for about a week, and I noticed that right away while taking this medication I had blurred vision and bad neck pain also constipation and trouble peeing. Not sure what all these symptoms meant but it scared me into getting off this drug ASAP. I been off for 2 days now but now experiencing some bad withdraws like headaches, crying, sleepy, and chills. This is some serious stuff because I was only taking the med for a week and quit cold turkey and I'm still experiencing side effects. I will definitely not be taking anything such as these meds for anti-depression.

I took venlafaxine 37.5mg XR and had similar vision problems. Blurred/Double visions and poor vision in low light which agitated me while driving on winter evenings. No blackouts though. There was even a site looking for people to share this particular low light vision problem.
Very sleepy afternoons but brisk and sharp morning moods. Drinking while on it causes wild mood swings. What I read is that this or these SNRI/SSRIs affect the tear ducts that might cause the vision problems. I am trying other meds but Venlafaxine brought the best self out, at least in the mornings. I have to try it with eye drops (lubricant to compensate for lack of tear) along with good diet (salmon).

I have been off it for about 6 months and i don't need the glasses I wore for 5 years while on the drug. I have no idea how or why, but I legit do not need glasses to see what I needed to see while on Effexxor.

Hi,

I was on Effexor last year and my eye sight was affected extremely severely. It crept up on me at first, with lack of depth perception (which I experienced when walking up and down stairs, and was unable to judge where/when to step.) I then developed bluriness in one eye. Finally, I developed a squint, with both my eyes turning in towards my nose. I was horrified and felt like I was trapped in a nightmare. I went to see an eye doctor and a normal optician and they told me my eyes were no longer functioning properly together as a pair. I was told I might need a specialist lens made for my eye glasses. I have never in my entire life had any problems of this sort. It was very clearly linked to the Effexor and got worse with each dose I took. I started wearing an eye patch indoors when watching TV, as one eye was able to focus on it's own with the second (worst) one covered up.
Eventually I had to admit defeat and come off the Effexor. My eye problems went away soon after and thank God things are now completely normal again. I would never take Effexor again as a result of this truly FRIGHTENING experience. I did love the way Effexor made me feel emotionally and mentally however. But these side effects were not something anybody could ever force themselves to tolerate.

I forgot to mention; Effexor made my eyes constantly dry and I was constantly using eye drops the whole time I was on it. I also had double vision. This dryness seemed to make the bluriness and double vision worse.

I have been on Effexor about three years, starting with the lowest dose and moving up to 150 mg a day. I decided to gradually stop. I have a pretty big weight gain and no cancer symptoms since 2015. I cut back to about 113 mg and then 75. I started having double vision about three weeks ago. My dr. Has scheduled me for an MRI to rule out any cancer type problems. What I am wondering is, how long did it take for most of you to get your eyes coordinated again. I am just sure it is this med.

Tranquilizer are even more nasty drugs than antidepressants. Dont touch them!
I was on both AD and Tranquilizers and am going through horrible withdrawal now. Having debilitating visual disturbances. Visual snow, palinopsia. Hope this goes with time as i have seen improvements.
