I have 1 External hemorrhoid that had ruptured last week when I went to the emergency room they put a needle to numb me (which was THE worst pain I have ever experienced, I am good with needles never bothered me before this was horrible) then they sliced the hem. open and squeezed out the blood and blood clots.  They told me that if it comes back...I would have to see a surgeon and have it removed.  It came back....and there is another clot in it b/c I can see a black dot on it.

I have pages and pages of horror stories on here about recovery from Hemorrhoid surgery on here but I think most of them had INTERNAL as well as external.  So I wanted to get some info for just having an External one removed.

I'm in the same situation as you nnj925! I also have just one external that's been "hanging around" for a few years now.:-P I am scheduled for surgery for next Thursday, but after reading posts on here, I'm thinking about canceling! I have family activities to go to about a week after, and hearing about "not knowing when you're going to have a BM" and other horror stories, I just don't know if it's worth it!
