About a month ago I developed an external hemorrhoid which is about the size of a pea. I've been using cream prescribed by my doctor (Scheriproct), and it's gone down quite a lot, but never goes completely (it tends to come back too if I have of more loose BM than usual, though it goes back down to what it normally is within a few days). There is no bleeding. I'm also getting plenty of water and fibre, I watch that religiously now!

My GP mentioned having the sclerotherapy injection to get rid of it and I was wondering what people's experiences of this are? The idea of an injection isn't something I'm looking forward too, but think perhaps it might be best to strike while it's small - the idea of it getting bigger and needing surgery isn't appealing!

For those that have had it for an external hemorrhoid, would you recommend it? Did you find it worked, was there a lot of pain or bleeding afterward? Was any time off work needed?

I'm just trying to get as an informed picture as possible before I go back later this week. Any help or advice would be appreciated!
