Try taking sitz baths with lavender oil. Also take silica cell salts, vitamin C, and a probiotic. I never had stool leakage, but I had gas passing through a low fistula. I have gone a few days now with no gas passing through fistula so I am hoping that it is healed or is at least getting smaller! It was getting progressively worse so I'm so grateful to see some improvement!

I had a rectovaginal fistula surgery two month ago- the procedures they used were fistulectomy and levatorplasty. I am still in pain and hoping to heal very soon.

(my fistula occured after anal-vaginal abscesses which were apparently caused by the infect that entered during episiotomy.)

Hi,
I'm sorry, I just saw your mesage. I'm so sorry for the assult. Horrible. As for the surgery, it's not too paunful and the recovery lasts about a month, although you can start working sooner if you are feeling ok. Unfortunatelly, these fistulas tend to come back or open somewhere else and they think it happened to me after the surgery, so I think I might have another one... not sure what I'm gojng to do, currently am at some homeopatic treatment...

Yes, I think it's better, the pain is reduced to a minimum and exames showed no fistula, so I guess it's either very small or closing up. I hope it will all end very soon. Thank you for your concern. I hope you are feeling better as well?

Does anyone have an experience to share about child birth with a fistula? Has anyone had a vaginal birth and, if so, did it worsen the fistula?

I'm not replying to your conditions, however I am in the same boat and guess what I'm 82 yrs old, with a vaginal fistula. Your not scaring me with your remarks however after surgery loosing the sphinx muscles, is, quite a concern, Is it really possible to have it heal on its own, I'm going to try a liquid diet, for awhile and see if there are any changes.

you give me hope I had this appear suddenly about 3 months ago , have had a ct scan , vaginal ultrasound and a bowel with contrast ,the reports were inclonclusive one said yes other said no so I am waiting to have an MRI in three weeks time , I have been on antibiotics for three months because of UTI. I have noticed a slight improvement and hoping this means whatever it is is healing on its own, I too have vaginal "Queefing" very embarrassing , cant understand where it is coming form if I don't have a fistula .

I have a recto vaginal fistula, caused by my cancer treatment. (I had stage 4 cervical cancer..in remission, at the moment). What I don't understand is why no-one told me there is a surgical procedure to repair it, instead my doctors gave me a colostomy bag, which is NOT preventing urinary tract and kidney infections, since I still have stool and gas coming through my vagina. Could it be because I'm also in stage 5 renal failure, due to my cancer treatment?
Thank you for any help.
