I have had the merina coil for the last three years and had it removed 6 days ago as we are trying for a baby. The day after removal had severe period pains and bled really heavily. normal period is 2-3 days. Still excessive bleeding along with headaches, stomach cramps and similar symptoms to ibs. Feeling awful - like a teenager with severe period pains....

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it normal? Help need advice please......pain is unbearable!!!!!
Thanks

Since there is a large possibility that even periods after Mirena get painful and a lot heavier (seems you got away without that), its normal and expected that there is some bleeding after its removal. How will it look is different for each woman, and it is expected that it can last about two weeks, stronger and more painful at start, and then it should stop, enabling the full fertility. Since it hurts like you were a teenager, maybe you can try out some of the old fashioned methods for a few days until it calms down, like keeping your belly warm and sipping some tea.
