Can someone please explain to me why I would have breakthrough bleeding after being on Seasonale after a year? I have never had a problem with this pill until now. I am on my 4th pack and I am halfway through it (not due to get my period until October) and I have had spotting for the last week. It hasn't been heavy but its still been there accompanied by cramps like I am having my period. I am a healthy 37 year old who has not had any physical problems and have not had any children either. Am I going to be spotting until I finish this pack in October? What is going on, please help!!

Thank you!!

I have been on Seasonale for about a year now as well... When i first started taking the pill this happened every so often but then it went away and now it is back... However the one and only time i find that i breakthrough bleed is during intercourse. In the beginning i found that if i took my pill to late ( like a couple of hours after i should have) which i have been doing lately by mistake. it happens more. its annoying and very inconvenient. I also wonder if stress or anything has to do with it. i have been very stressed out lately, i just moved to a new state so maybe that has done it. I dont know... Am i the only crazy girl with this inconvenient problem??

I'm sorry to hear of all your problems, ladies.  I just wanted to shine some hope on other readers out there.  I had the exact same problem for the first two full packs of Seasonale.  By the time I got the end of "month 2" of the pack, I would breakthrough bleed from a light as a brown spotting to as heavy as full period until the actual period was scheduled to come.  After I took that week off from the pills and started the next pack, the bleeding would stop completely until the second month of the next pack.  I have well past that point on my third pack with no sign of any blood, not even the brownish discolouration that can be so annoying! If any of you ladies out there are getting frustrated through the first 6 months, stick with it! My body has finally evened-out and I think the break-through bleeding it over.  It was definitely worth it to now only have 4 scheduled periods a year I can count on!
