Ok...i dont know if this is a psychological problem or what, but someone will tell me something and i pay attention and hear them thoroughly but not 2 -3 min later i cant remember a thing of what they said. It doesnt happen with everything people tell me just most of the time. I also cant sleep more than 4 hours at a time maybe even 3 im always startled by something or jumping up out of bed. Then i can be in mid conversation with a person and i mix my words like ill be thinking work and ill say 'house' i dont know why it is but it's happening ALL the time. ill switch words and replace words to where it doesnt make sense. i slur my words together and ive never had a speach problem b4 that was serious this just started happening id say a yr or 2. Anyone have a reason why id have these problems???

Hi, I've been like this for most of my adult life. I'd be talking to a person and the wrong word will come out of my mouth. The correct word is in my mind....but for some reason it will just come out wrong. I will then try to correct myself... only to make matters worst. I even try to talk slower in hopes I can "grab" the right word from my mind but that doesn't work either. My friends understands of my "problem" and pretty much knows what I'm trying to say. But it's embarassing when you are talking with strangers and you come out with a collection of mixed up words. I'm learning to laugh it off..telling people I'm having a "senior moment". But I'd love to know what causes it also.
As for the memory lost......I always tell friends their secrets are safe with me. Because I can never remember what they told me..and if I did remember . Telling what I heard, the details would never come of of my mouth in a correct. I'd get frustrated and just say forget it.
I've had serious insommia for over 10 years. Whether the lack of sleep has cause brain cell damage...maybe someone can answer this question.
