Hello, I often had constipations, so I have decided to take metamucil. I know that it is a natural preparation rich with fibers. It helped me a lot and thanks to it, my defecation is regular now. Unfortunately, the new problem occurred when I ate ice cream yesterday and got high temperature with diarrhea. Should you take metamucil while ill with diarrhea?

I think that you are suffering from intestinal bacterial infection that should be treated with antibiotics. For now, you should stop taking Metamucil, because it also affects peristaltic movements (meaning that it only does what infection does too, and we dont want that). Deal with the infection first and after that you could continue taking Metamucil.

The OP could be sensitive to lactose in the Ice Cream, or even allergic to one of the ingredients.
