I know it's been awhile since this post was posted but I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm going on 3 weeks post surgery. Doc removed 2 inner, prolapsed and 2 thrombosed outer hemorrhoids. I was in so much pain for a month pre surgery that I was happy to have them removed. When I woke doc told me he also had to remove a tumor he found in my rectum. It turned out to be stage one cancer
I thought I was healing nicely. Pain yes but getting better. But just the other day I started feeling very sore on the left side of my anus. I felt a hard lump there and now the pain is getting worse. Has anyone experienced this? It's sudden. I'm afraid it may be infected. I was off pain killers now I'm back on

I about at day 13 post surgery yesterday was a good day for me I got out of the house and walked a little but today is horrible I'm in a crazy amount of pain right now.I just had a bowel movement and got straight into the tub like I always do after a bowel movement it's been a hour and the pain has slowed a little but it still.a 9 on the 1 to 10 scale 10 being too much pain for me to type on my phone I just don't understand how I can still be in this much pain 13 days later I also have a string loop hanging out of me I don't know what it's from but if I gently pull it it hurts I don't know if it was internal stiches or if it was something else all of my stiches on the outside have already came out can someone help explain some of this to me

Ok so I had 4 surgically removed! 1 external 3 internal! All roughly 3-4 inches in size! The pain was crazy! However I will say day 10
Doing pretty dang good considering!! It feels like shooting razor blades but today I can say I finally feel I can poop normally!! Give it time ... It does heal over time :)

Today is 7/21/15. I had my hemorrhoidectomy on 7/14/15, so it's been one week today. As others have posted, words can't really describe the pain and discomfort. Just wanted to point out a few things to anybody who hasn't had the surgery done yet. (1) You will be out of work for at LEAST two weeks. My doctor told me I could return to work on the following Monday. Just not possible, especially for me with the extreme pain after bowel movements and the need for a hot bath right after--still not sure how I'm going to work that one out as bowel movements are excruciating and a bloody mess. (2) Make sure that your constipation--which caused your hemorrhoids in the first place--is somewhat under control BEFORE you have the surgery. I did not and my first few bowel movements were extremely uncomfortable because of the sutures, etc. and due to my usual constipation. I am now using one tablespoon of Miralax daily and taking 100mg of Colace 3x's daily and am drinking 100 oz of water. Also eating normal amount of fiber for me. Hate the idea of using a laxative daily, but I am only having one bowel movement per day. When I took full dose of Miralax (which is about two tablespoons), I had three movements, which was just too physically draining for me. My stools, incidentally are still not soft per se, must be something about my body and the way it processes food? (3) If you can, have your surgery done by a colorectal surgeon. I was under the false impression that mine was, but he is actually a general surgeon. I have developed skin tags a few days after the surgery which I understand is normal but am thinking that a specialist with more experience in this particular surgery could have avoided them developing due to better/different surgical technique, etc. Hope this information helps somebody.

I had my surgery to remove external on 7/15/2015. It's been a week and the pain is definitely there and worse at night. During the day I only take one Percocet plus Ibuprofen every 4 hrs but at night I think I need to up to Percocet as I can't sleep. I am really swollen down there and now it looks almost worse than my original hemorrhoid. the doc said the swelling will eventually go down but from what I read some people are permanently left w new ones which makes the surgery worthless! I did it mainly for cosmetic reasons and now scared that it will not look any better or even worse than before!! The spotting and leakage is there constantly. Also I can't stop contracting my anal is muscle when I lay down to sleep even with a muscle relaxer like Valium. The contraction is very painful which the mess doesn help. Counting days the swelling will go away or at least reduce significantly. No one is reporting back on the swelling new hemorrhoid much..:(

Zero pain prior bur also needed procedure due to bloody bm's. 3 weeks later stitches are still in there and after lots of pain and meds and sh**ting bricks sideways I'm starting to feeling human again and no more bloody bm's. Worth it ? I think it will be in the long run.

I had mine done 13th feb 2015, it's now 20 August 2015 and until a couple of weeks ago was still not healed! I'm still not 100% there with BM, it's only just stopped bleeding the last few days, thanks to a newly formed fissure (which I never had problems with pre op). I don't evacuate fully and find myself going to the bathroom 4-5 times after the first go to 'finish' but I'm beginning to think this is just psychological. I have found unrefined coconut oil to be a dream over the last week with the after BM throbbing I get. For me, the surgery definitely was not worth the ongoing issues I'm having. I never had to plan around my BM days before the op. The surgeon keeps assuring me that once it fully heals I will be good but when that will be, I can only guess. I would love to hear some positive feedback from someone who has had a long recovery?

I did warm water baths with no salt as found them soothing at the time, then i thought oh well I'll try salt in there too and it helped me SO MUCH MORE!

I am 5 weeks out and dealing with the exact same thing. My doctor told me that he would remove them at 4 months. I am hoping he will do 3 instead due to having met my deductible as well. How did that go for you? Did it even compare to healing after the surgery?

Hi All: I had my surgery 5 days ago... 5 internal hemoroids removed....what a horrible and brutal procedure!!! I haven't ever been in such a pain!!! I was given Oxycodone the miracle pain medicine and yes it helps with pain for 4 hours but it constipate you so after all you have unbearable pain treating to poop. So I stopped pain medicine, pop 3 Advils every 4,5 hours and take a shot of Magnesium Milk (30ml) in the morning. The total loose poop seems to be my best friend even though it burns so badly. I barely ate today because I am so scared of every trip to the bathroom. I can not wait for this nightmare to be over! Good luck to all who go through the same situation now!

I had my surgery about 60 hours ago, everything is fine excep the new pile that is swollen that made me worried. I don't feel any pain now and therefore stop oral pain medication, only apply painkiller cream on the new pile to make sure I don't feel too uneasy. My doctor said I can go back to the clinic to get some anti-swelling tablet, hope it help.
Comparing with many other post, mine consider very lucky, I went back to work 12 hours after my surgery without much pain. What I am saying is your piles condition/surgery is different from others, your doctor is different from others and therefore medicine given is also different, therefore recovery route is different too, but don't give up yet, absorb some good information on the Internet and check with your doctor if it will help you in any way, eg my doctor did not tell me to take sits bath, I saw it on the net and called him to check, and he told me sits bath is good as long as the water is not too hot to scar any soft tissue. I hope all of you will recover in no time.

Hi I had surgery also like u the day of the surgery I felt instant relief no pain just the normal reaction to the surgery I never used to to much mess in three weeks in and I honestly feel great I wish I would have done it sooner
