It will take awhile not trying to disappoint but I'm 13 days from 4 months after hemorroidectomy and I'm still in pain still not completely healed I have a open wound or acute fissure from the surgery site that won't close up all the way just yet. This place is directly where the bump is on the outside. I regret having the surgery as of now. I'll keep updating and wish you all a speedy recovery. Doctors are not honest about this recovery. My buddy had the survey last year and it took him 8 months for everything to completely heal and stop having leakage so just be prepaid for you can fill fine one day and then have a hard bowl movement the next that makes you feel like we'll 2 again. ..

Hi there Dom,

It is has slightly more than a month now since my second surgery. Although I am healing pretty nicely in terms of pain, I am still swollen. Most of my swelling has gone down except for one part which pretty much remained the same over the weeks. Doctor said that I will probably form a skin tag from that swelling. I can live with a skin tag if it does not cause me any trouble but how long will it be before the swelling recedes? How long before you saw any significant reduction in your swelling? I am going into my 5th week now and although I am feeling way better than I was during the first surgery, cleaning is still a chore and there is still the sense of urgency whenever i need to go. Probably because i am still swollen at some parts. Doc has given me medication to help reduce the swelling but I have been on it for the past few weeks without any significant changes to the one swollen part. Doc says it "should" reduce and if not he can cut it off once I heal if he is sure the swollen tissue is not interfering with my muscles. So I am just hoping it will reduce over time. I hardly know what a normal butt looks like now. I hope you are healing well from your fissure!

Guys it's going to take months to get better trust me it will be well take along time. I'm over 4 months and a week I'm still a bit swollen where the most was taken out. I still have a little swelling but it's mostly just scar tissue or skin tag. Going to the restroom slightly hurts but not much at all I would say I'm about a month from completely normal. Cheryl you're on your way at 5 weeks I was still bleeding and I couldn't sit still. I'm just now able to sit pretty much normal but if I'm on a chair that's hard I can't sit for more then an hour. I can do weights lightly but like I said before I has complications with a fissure which I still bled slightly although with the nifedipine and no added stress also Miralax that Dahm thing is closing up. Advice please do not squeeze your but together when you stand I know it may feel like things are falling out but what you're doing is causing the wounds to rip I learned the hard way. Cheryl sorry for the bad news but the skin tag will never go away it will be there until you get it cut off. I'm doing it in the office next month or maybe even this month on the 24th of I'm all healed up. Be patient guys get some psyllium husk fiber it's great but if you're just at 6 days don't use fiber it will only bulk your stools and rip you Mara lax fruit and stool softners until about week four trust me I learned the hard way on that one as well. The stitches coming out well be a problem for another month especially if you had vicryl they will not fully dissolve till up to two months although I had move trimmed down at 5 weeks. Hang in there guys things will get better but both of you have a long ways to go. Again I'm 4 months and a week and still a tiny bit of bleeding and a little pain if I do alot of lifting. Stay in touch guys I'll be checking more often to reply. Ask away again I have had the stapled surgery in Dec 2015 them a full hemorroidectomy two months later so I would like to think I'm pretty seasoned unfortunately. .stop thinking every day will be better and track your progress by the week be prepared for set backs and please no added stress. I was engaged when I had these surgeries and my girl left me because I didn't heal when she wanted me to nobody understands this surgery unless they go through it themselves. In here if you need advice guys. .God bless

Your post makes a lot of sense to me. I'm 30 days post op. "Accessory -- hemorrhoid" sounds like a valid term. What's there now certainly seems accessory to the surgery. Like you, the questions I have are --- Will it go away/ go down/ be absorbed by the body and, if so, WHEN? I had my stitches out last week. At my follow-up, my surgeon offered no words except "you're healing well" (translation?:" I did a good job") and his responses to my questions were monosyllabic; it was clear he was annoyed by my having the audacity to ask any questions at all. Notwithstanding, and because, like you, I can't imagine living with this again and for so long, I asked him, "Why is there an external, painful, puffy bulge remaining?". His response: "Hemorrhoid". I then asked, "Will it go away?" Response: "Maybe". Then, I asked two more questions: 1.) " If it doesn't, will I need another surgery to get rid of it?" and 2.) "Will it go away eventually --- in other words, be reabsorbed by the body?" His answer to my first question was, "Maybe." And to the second, "Probably". So I totally empathize. I hope your mother is right. FYI - I'm finding a very soft ice pack more helpful than sitzbaths and taking Advil. But I too, am worried. Can you perhaps ask your mother if it could take up to 4 months to go down? Some of the posts imply this. Like you, I would just like some sense of the time it might take to have an eventual end to this... thx again. E.

Thank you. How long does it take for the "accessory hemorridal" swelling to go down post op? I'm about day 30. Stitches out.

Thank you for your post. Question: How long after hemorridectomy does it take for the new "accessory hemorrhoids" (u shaped) to finally go way? Or can it not?

Sounds like you're very concerned about your surgery the first thing you must do is calm down when you stress you're causing straining down there. Understand that it will take longer then 30 days trust me I'm just now to the the point where I can see where I'm gonna be ok with the surgery. The lumps are common they're skin tags from the surgeon not taking to much tissue. At thirty days mine looked like a u as well. Your surgeon sounds like a crock I would get a second opinion. But if you're not overly concerned then just let it be every time you go to the doc to get checked you will set yourself back. The tissue will go down mine at 30 days was about the size of a small grape but more a skin color. Now it is more just a flap of skin around the edge. I don't believe what you're experience is another hemorroid. Did you go to a colorectal surgeon or general? It may or may not go completely away but my surgeon advised we could just numb and cut it off wants I'm healed which hopefully will be my next visit. I bled up until about 2 weeks ago and it just now is to the point that I can have a pretty big bm and not have any pain. Don't worry about the tissue if it dosent go all the way away it can be cut off and it won't be painful at all. Did you have a external or internal hemorroidectomy?

I am now 4 months and three weeks I still have a little tissue that has gone down alot. That is not my main problem anymore . My problem is I'm still bleeding from an acute fissure or cut from where the most tissue was taken out that bleeds every time I use the restroom. Quite frustrated but trying to be positive about it. I'm pretty much able to sit and do things but still can't strain to much and laughing really hard causes pain down there still so we will see in another month. This surgery sucks the most but again I just gotta thinkpositive. How far are you?

I am 7 weeks and 1 day. Worse surgery ever. Still hurts like hell when I have a bm and still bleeds. Used Nefedipine for the past 2 weeks and hasn't helped. Got a second opinion and he confirmed what the first doctor said. That its just healing time is taking a longer than normal. Its ridiculous!!!!! Can't go out coz if I did the rest room I have to go straight away. Too painful to try and hold it. The local doctor said its more likely the fibers around the anus that need stretching. Please, any advice would be appreciated. Debbie

Debbie..totally agree by far the worst surgery. I think in time I'll be better but this surgery is the worst I would never recommend it to anybody. Yes slow healing is what mine is to but so frustrated. Dosent really hurt to have a BM and I'm really only doing two colace pills at night although I have always and still do eat healthy food and drink lots of water. I'm just frustrated with the feeling always feels like a paper cut hard to relax the muscles down there. But my buddy had the same surgery it took him about 8 months to fully heal so hang in there. I'm about 17 weeks right now.
