I want to find out more information on swollen lymphnodes. My 8mos. old niece has one under her left ear for about 2wks. now. The doctor who first saw it said it could be either mumps or just a swollen lymphnode. They ran blood work and found the results to be negative. It has since gotten larger and more red. It hasn't seemed to bother her for the last 2 wks. but, this morning it has gotten a little bigger, and more red. I have googled it and can't seem to pinpoint the reason behind it. If anyone, but most especially a doctor in this field could please tell me what it is and what it's caused from I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi! I'm not a doctor but I read that lymph nodes usually swell if the body's fighting against some kind of infection. If it's located under her ear maybe she's suffering from ear infection. And those infections are quite common in children. I hope she'll get well soon.
