I am afraid there is no way to get rid of the discharge or the odor because the odor comes from the discharge. I guess the odor is from staying too long in there but I am not sure.
My sister had cryo done and she also had excessive discharge but she didn’t mention any bad smell-maybe she didn’t feel like talking about it.
Anyway, her doctor said it is a good sign because it means that these dead cervix cells are leaving the body and that the healing is taking place.
Just try to accept it as a normal part of cryotherapy. It will be much easier for you. It won’t last forever. Four weeks tops.

I know this a very late answer to a very old post, but perhaps it could be useful to anybody else with the same question. I am shocked at the lack of professional medical advice so many women experiencing when going through this procedure. I have been lucky enough to have a very professional, clear, and accessible Ob-Gyn who gave me excellent information and advice when going through this process.
I too had cryotherapy due to mild dysplasia of certain cells that were persistent enough not to go away on their own. Because I have had a history of irregular pap smears, my Dr. suggested this procedure to prevent these cells from becoming malignant. I had the procedure done about 2 weeks ago and still have a considerable amount of discharge. For the first week this discharge had a very faint coloration to it and practically no odor, however, after about a week, I started noticing a significant increase in an extremely unpleasant odor. I had been very clean, washed myself frequently (no douching) and had had no intercourse at all since the procedure. The next day I called my ObGyn. The day of the procedure she had given me a written note of things to expect after undergoing cryotherapy, all of which she had discussed with me before, after, and during the procedure. It stated that if I were to notice any malodorous discharge or was in pain, or showed any signs of fever or infection, to immediately call her office. I did and was immediately penciled in for an appointment. Apparently, some of the dead tissue was not detaching properly from my cervix and was rotting inside of me, hence the terrible smell. The Dr. proceeded to remove the dead tissue and I immediately noticed the difference, there was no longer any odor. She also prescribed some antibiotics so as to prevent any infection. I have had no further complications other than the regular discharge which is still ongoing.
It worries me that so many women out there have gotten or are being subjected to this procedure having not been properly informed about the risks by their doctors, it is really alarming to me. I hope anyone who reads this has as good a healthcare provider as I have been lucky enough to find and that this account helps with their own experiences.
Good luck to all.

Thanks for this information. I had one last saturday. The doctor had warned me about the odor, but I did not think it will be this much. I can stand near people at work. I am worried to get up if there are people around me. I will call my doctor tomorrow.
Thanks a lot

I had my cryo done two weeks ago, and I am just now starting to have this smell. I saw the very first response, so is this a good thing or a bad thing? should I call my doctor?

My doctor also warned me of this and why the odor would occur. He wrote me a prescription for the odor. And I have an appointment scheduled for four weeks from the procedure.

I am going on week 5 of this procedure. First I was told to douche with medicated (Bezodine fluid mix) 2x per day for two weeks to prevent infection. During which I had my menstrual. I feel like my cervix is still thawing out as I have a continual drain but now an acrid smell like old iodine and maybe dead tissue? I'm waiting for them to call me back. I had intercourse after the 2 week period and bled. Not a lot but it concerned me about the healing process. I am not used to any foul smells and am very self conscious about this discharge. If it takes a month then please set expectations as such! The procedure alone makes you feel ashamed so letting us know what happens next or could is critical. Maybe I jumped the gun with intercouse and made matters worse? Who knows! My husband even said it felt different. How true or imagined I am not sure. I just want my regular cycle back!

I had this procedure done today. I am so glad I read this post. From what I understand in about 2 weeks I may start having a strong odor with my discharge. I had this done 8 hours ago and I'm not having any discharge and never experienced cramping. I am wondering why I seem to be different.

I had this procedure done a week and half ago and I started smelling an awful smell below 6 days after having the procedure! It smells so bad to me that I went to the doctors and did a urine test but no infection was found so I was told it was just my dead cells coming out! The smell is also getting me down as I have never smelt below before and am a very clean person! I can smell the smell through my clothes and have to wash my jeans, tights or anything else I wear immediately every evening!
I'm really praying the smell goes soon as it is making me feel so down.
Can anyone tell me how long the smell lasted for them please?
Also my blood is watery and brown, almost feels like I'm wetting myself sometimes? I mentioned this to my nurse but she didn't say anything?
