it's terrible what your doctor told you. The reactions you got from CPRO are not normal in healing situation andit means that your body is intolerant to this antibiotics and in particulat to this kind of solution.
I would rather suggest you to look into this site BESTFROMNATURE. Many women are looking into the remediesthey are proposing both for interstitial and bacterial cystitis. You will find all the answers you need. Believe me you could find your pain reliefs and what's more to suggest these remedies to some other women suffering from UTI.

Like the previous male above, I took ciprofloxacin (cipro) and developed what appeared to be a sun burn or chemical burn on the head and one side of my penis (upper right side). I had a bad cough with yellowish phlegm so the pharmacy gave me ciproloxacin pills and recommended I take 2 per day. Not 30 minutes after the first pill I felt a tingling sensation on the head of my penis. One scratched (abnormal good sensation) the "itch" went away for some 5 or 10 minutes.
The next morning I took another pill after breakfast and felt the same feelings come back. I looked at my penis in the bathroom and noticed that it was red and blotchy spots there. I thought maybe it was just the house cleaner used too much detergent. Later that day I took another pill of cipro. This time I noticed again after 30 minutes the sensation were strong and the itch burning. I have stopped taking cipro for 2 days now and the skin has stopped itching but is still blotchy and flaking (not quite peeling). I've never had anything like this before and I can surely attribute it to the drug. I don't think I've ever had a reaction to it before but I do recall taking it once before, for a urinary tract infection.
Hope someone finds this information useful. I guess this may be my first medicinal allergic reaction.

I know this is an old post but I am a "floxie". I have been poisioned by cipro and have had vaginal skin burning and lower bladder burning ever since the last time I took cipro. I had been on cipro many times throughout the last five years for UTI's and have developed many health problems. The vaginal itching and burning is very uncommon though so I am not sure what to make of it. It is very painful and has lasted 4 months now. I have been tested for all STD's and had a regualr exam. I've also had a bladder ultrasound. They can't figure it out. I'm just wondering if this is a very rare side effect of the cipro. It looks like some others have a similar reaction.
