I just went to dr today for the same issue. Severe itching, burning, irritation, swelling and soreness of vagina. Even hurt to pee. Anyway, I had just finish a round of cipro for blood in my urine. Then this started . Anyway went to gyno, cause thought just a yeast infection. They did a UA and my white cells were high, after exam and culture found out a bad bacterial infection that Dr. said was caused by the cipro. Gave me an antiobiotic clld Flagyl. You should go to dr.

Im really glad i found this post because ive been stressing out all day. ive been taking cipro for two days for a really bad uti that i had and after sleeping and being in bed most of the day once i took the first pill in the early morning, yesterday evening i had already gotten the itching and discharge side effects. This morning i woke up with what i literally have been thinking is herpes after reading websites on stds all day. Then i started looking into cipro side effects and found this thread. I have what seem to be closed sores and major burning when i use the restroom. Its terrible! I have a doctors appointment for an std test this afternoon but ill definitely be bringing this up to her and hopefully this will be what the case is!

For all who read this, I know exactly what you're going through. I took cipro for a uti and ended up with severe vaginal itching and weird white sores. I went to another doctor who changed my antibiotic and also prescribed diflucan and valtrex to control the vaginal response. It cleared it up. Don't feel like you're alone! It'll be ok, I promise!!! Also make sure to follow up with a urologist or urogynecologist!

Hi, yes this is the same experience I had while on Cipro. Vaginal lesions like on the peri/vulva area. Discharge as well. Try Monistat at the drug store and aggressively use a good pro biotic...Hope this helps.

Please everybody see your doctor. For one thing, the only way pharmaceutical companies know about adverse reactions is by the GP's reporting them (they have a form to complete), the more of you who do this, the better the patient information gets, and for another thing............you need prescription meds to sort this out if it is that severe.

Cipro, if you have read the patient information leaflet, should not be taken with anything with a high calcium or iron content as it will affect the way it works, therefore dairy type pro or pre biotics are a big nono unless taken as part of a full meal where the rest is not high in calcium.

Let me tell you that flouroquinolone antiobiotics can and does do this to you. Took cipro and all my joints swelled up but doctors could not find problem, Took Levaquin in 2012 and body blew up. pain in all tendon and pain shooting through scrotrum and broke out with blisters and sores. Went to 15 doctors and 15 std tests and no doctor could tell me anything, but i found answer on internet. Go to FLOUROQUINOLONE TOXICITY SYNDROME and read all the horror stories about cipro, levaquin and the other flouroquinolone antiobiotics. My legs and penis still burn from this poison and it takes years to get over if you ever do. There are thousands of stories about this poison. If you read urology blogs from men, you will hear these people trying to figure out what happened to them. These doctors we have are in for the money and do not care what this poison does to us. They will deny these drugs did this to you. good luck.

Hi, I also took cipro and then I started bleeding two days later and three days later developed sores. I went to the hospital for the sores and without being tested, the doctor said it's herpes because it's in the genital area and that the stress of the UTI probably brought them out. I read all the posts on this message board prior to going and told the doctor that i've read about other people who've had a similar reaction after taking cipro and he said that if that was the case, the sores should'nt be in just the genital area. Did you get different information? I haven't been tested yet. I'm just curious about what other doctors have to say on this topic.

I had, YI and then a wek after I got rid of it, (with monistat) I got UTI, went to my PCP, he gave me Cipro to take for 7 days, and when I was done with Cipro I had a brown discharge which I still have.. It's been a week at least 5 days since it started (the brown discharge) and my period is due in 3 days... So, I don't know.. If it doesn't stop or my period doesn't come, I'll see my PCP again..

I seriously thought I was the only one this was happening to. I never thought that cipro could cause something so awful. I'm in a monogamous relationship and have only ever had two partners so I know I don't have an std but was seriously starting to think I had herpes or something. It only started after taking coprocessor for a couple days. I only take one more pill tomorrow morning and I really hope it will clear up after that.

I have a reaction to Cipro only in the vaginal area! My skin literally ripped open and I had lesions, plus two round circular marks (one on Butt and one front near bikini line). Was told this was ringworm and STD by two doctors!!! All tests for those were negative...a year or two later I took another antibiotic (same family as Cipro ; ended with -floxacin) in Thailand for bacterial infection and had the exact same reaction within thirty minutes. Horrible pain, burning, itching!

The same thing has happened to me after taking Cipro for a UTI. I have a total hysterectomy/oopherectomy, but now I have spotted a drop or two of brownish blood. I am giving it another day, then going to my OBGYN and urologist to investigate further.
