This is my first month of taking the birth control pill and for three times now, (not in a row) I have been two or three hours late in taking my pill.
Is taking your pill a couple hours late a big deal or not?
Also, how can you go about changing the time in which you take the pill everyday without decreasing the effectivess of the pill?

An hour or 2 shouldnt make that much of a difference, but you dont want to take the chance, try to set an alarm on your phone or take it at a time you usually do a certain activity. When I changed the time of my pill I did it slowly, for example a half hour earlier or later than normal.

Hey there,
Well, birth control pills contain female hormones that are responsible for regulating your ovulation and menstrual cycle. When you are on the pill, your body sort of gets used to function on the hormones that are coming from the pill and when you stop, it takes a while before you get back to the hormones you produce. So, there is a pretty simple reason as to why it’s important to take the pill at the almost the same time, every day (expect when you have your period).
Usually, the pill becomes less effective if you are late more that 2 or 3 times, for more than two hours a month. So, this month you need to be extra careful and make sure you get the rest of the pills in time. As Samsung said, just move the time for taking the pill for half an hour, or start at a different time after your period.
