I will try to explain to you what Pyuria is, in the simplest way. Pyuria is the presence of elevated numbers of white cells in a urine which appears sterile using standard culture techniques. The causes of this condition include a treated urinary tract infection within 2 weeks of treatment, inadequately treated urinary tract infection, renal stones, prostatitis, chlamydia urethritis, interstitial cystitis and polycystic kidney. Presence of pyuria increases significance of low bacterial count and when it comes to treatment antibiotics are proscribed as indicated by culture. I am sure that your friend will be ok.
