Hello, guys. I was on my routine check up several months ago and I was found high cholesterol. My doctor suggested me advicor and I started taking it. However, I have recently started to experience muscle spasms. Is this this drug's side effect? I would appreciate all your replies. Thanks and bye!

Hello. Advicor is a combination of lovastatin and niacin. Lovastatin blocks production of cholesterol in organism and in that way it lowers its blood levels. Niacin is also called nicotinic acid and it belongs to B group vitamins. Advicor can show many side effects. Muscle spasm is just one of them. You should consult with your doctor. He might change your medication for lowering cholesterol. There are many other good medications for this purpose. I hope everything will be all right. Bye
