Hello, folks. My brother has a real problem with his arteries. He has high LDL cholesterol and serious arteriosclerosis. He is also diabetic. His doctor has mentioned something about aggressively lowering LDL cholesterol. Does anyone know what this is all about? I would appreciate all your replies. Thank you in advance.

Hello. I think that doctor gave your brother a good advice. Aggressively lowering LDL cholesterol with people with type 2 diabetes may prevent or even reverse their hardening of the arteries. Lowering blood pressure is also important here. There are serious studies that have proven this. If one lowers its cholesterol under 80, he can reverse hardening of the arteries. Systolic pressure should be under 115 mmHg. Your brother should be careful with his diet and physical activity. You should discuss about the details with the doctor. I hope this helps. Good luck!
