I have been in Tamoxifen for 3 years, after a bilateral mastectomy. I have gained 40 pounds with no diet change. My triglycerides were in check as long as I was on high cholesterol medication. When I was taken off the cholesterol medication, within 3 months my triglycerides were 600. My oncologist switched me to Arimidex and put me on 4000mg of fish oil a day and instructed me to be more active. I will see at my next check-up how this worked.

I had a similar issue. Tamoxifin made my triglycerides skyrocket, I went on another option to tamoxifin. 10 years later they are 1/2 what they were but still very high.

Same here. I’m over weight and have had issues with high triglycerides in the past (270) but was able to get them to normal (115) by adopting a ketogenic diet. I started Tamoxifen 4 months ago and just had a Lipid panel for a routine visit with my cardiologist. My triglycerides were 1007. I retested the next day after fast 17 hours and they were 823. My oncologist has instructed to stop taking Tamoxifen immediately and we’re retesting in 3 weeks.

What causes chylous ascites? Is there any data that progesterone therapy will help chylous ascites? What about a diet with medium chain triglycerides?

I’m 72 yr old woman with breast cancer diagnosed 2 years ago. Tamoxifen has caused elevated triglycerides and also low WBC and RBC. Along with that I only have one kidney due to donating kidney 11 years ago and now EGFR is very low. My hair falls out in clumps. My oncologist never informed me of these side effects. After doing extensive research I found all these side effects do exist. I am no longer taking Tamoxifin and feeling much better.
