I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 9 months ago. I was aware I had this disorder about a year prior, told my internist to check my TSH twice over six months. I had gained 35lbs in one year for no apparent reason. He kept telling me I was fine. I asked for a copy of my paperwork. After researching on the internet I learned that new guidelines were set to determine if someone had the condition. After seeing a highly regarded endocrinologist he immediately put me on 75mcl's of synthroid. A week later I was told I was vitamin D dificient, a 12. After 6 months of high doses of vitamin D, and sun therapy my numbers only went up 2 points (14). I am once again taking 50,000 units of vitamin D each week. I have the symptoms, extreme fatique, sleepiness, and bone pain. Can anyone tell me why it is taking so long for my vitamin D levels are taking so long to reach a normal level? I am now on 100mcl's of synthroid. I am raising my grandson, his Mom passed, my daughter 2 years ago. I feel so sad I do not have the energy to do the things I used to do with him such as bike riding, playing ball, bowling, having races, and swimming. Does anyone know anything I can do to get my vitamin D levels up at a faster rate?
