This sounds exactly like what I've experienced! I went off Nuvaring in June after being on it for 9 years and immediately after experienced a serious tragedy so I attributed my weight gain to that. But I have increased my workouts and have been tracking my food with an app so I don't understand how I'm gaining more and more weight. I am so puffy around my face, especially my chin. I have the oily skin and mood swings as well. I've probably gained around 15 lbs since June and I've been talking to my doctor about starting Saxenda because I can't think of anything else at this point. Extremely frustrating!

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I think I may have some idea why this is happening. I am 48 and thought I may have gone through menopause because my dr did my bloodwork and said my estrogen was low to non-existent. I quit nuvaring 4 weeks ago and magically gained 6 lbs and counting. So tonight I look and see this blog with everyone gaining weight. I googled and found this answer which makes me thing nuvaring supresses estrogen and when you go off and in comes back, vwalla: "Why does birth control make you gain weight?
Estrogen in high doses can cause weight gain due to increased appetite and fluid retention" Meanwhile, my period started yesterday so I don't think I was menopausal after all. I guess that is the key and if you want to know about your own body, get your hormone levels checked before and after you go off the nuvaring.
