I have short term memory loss, not serious, but I do forget what I was trying to say occasionally. I also feel very awake and when its quiet (in bed at night) I have a ringing in my ears, but coming from depression and being unable to do much of anything, this seems great!

I am starting my  200 mg wellbutrin (Brupropion) daily treck... I will keep you guys posted on the weight loss. I actually am using this as a smoke cessation aid and hope it helps. I also take prozac: (400 mg. daily) to treat my depression. I hope it aids the prozac. Since Prozac made me go from 120 to 150, I wonder if weight loss will occur . So basically, since I am new here (what a great informative and comforting place to be!) I will keep u posted on the 'changes'! Cheers! Stay Gold! Rosie

I've been on Wellbutrin for 3 months now. After decades of steadily gaining weight, I've lost 28 lbs. My appetite is less, but I still get hungry and I still eat. I think it's a combination of slightly increased activity, decreased depression, not craving food all the time, and maybe something chemical with the drug.

My doctor tells me I needed to lose the weight anyway, so it was a good side effect for me. She took me off my cholesterol med as a result of the weight loss.

The med made me feel jittery the first month. After that it wore off. I have had no other side effects.

I started on Celexa. It didn't work well for me at all. I was continually exhausted and there were sexual side effects. I have none of that on Wellbutrin. I would kiss the feet of the scientist who created this - it has helped me immensely during an incredibly difficult time in my life.

I've been on Wellbutrin for about 5 weeks now.  I have had  major abdominal pain and nauseated.  I have loss  weight and have quit smoking as well.  I always thought it would be nice to quit smoking but didn't intend to at this time. How Nice not to be chained to cigarettes anymore.  I would like to know if anyone else has abdominal pain and feeling of being sick(throwing up)to their stomach.I take 300mg of wellbutrin in the morning.

yes. the abdominal pain is the worst side effect for me. it lasts from 5-10 minutes once daily. I also take 300XL around 11am. it's worth the pain but I'd like to know what it is exactly that causes it. sometimes I am reduced to the fetal position in tears because of it.

I've been in wellbutrin 300 mg a day for 8 years. i love it ! a friend of a friend i know started crushing her 150 mg and swallowing it. it gave her more energy and she started losing weight. before that , she never understood why it said it causes weight loss. also, i heard when you crush it in your mouth. you're mouth goes numb like if you
snorted coke. it also tastes like meth. so i was told.

Not too long ago I has tremendous stress in my life and ended up in the hospital after having had a major panic attack. My doctor prescribed 50 mg. Zoloft once daily. I took it, but had awful side effects: jittery, anxious, heart palpitations, headache, insomnia and no sex drive whatsoever. So, my doctor prescribed Xanax for the anxiety and insomnia. The combination of the two made me either jittery or sleepy. Definitely not a great way to spend my life. So, after that failed combo of meds, my doctor switched me to 40 mg. of Celexa once daily. It definitely took care of my anxiety and insomnia, but I was a zombie and didn't have much of a reaction to anything, plus I gained 15 pounds in 6 months. I was constantly hungry and felt like I could never get full! I work out 6 days a week and am a vegetarian. I don't drink, don't smoke, and have always weighed around 120 lbs. I am 5'4" tall and 120 has always been a comfortable and appropriate weight for me, so the 15 pounds did a number on me and made me depressed AND anxious about the weight gain. Just last week I was put on bupropion, the generic form of Wellbutrin. I was instructed to take 150 mg. twice a day about 12 hours apart. Well, after just the third day I was jittery, nauseated, had a horrible headache, couldn't sleep and was constipated. After reporting these side effects to my doctor, she told me to take it just once a day, in the morning. I feel like a normal person again!:-) I'm sleeping, don't really have an appetite, but am eating normal amounts, not jittery, but I do have tinnitis, which is no big deal, I can deal with that. It's been only a week, so I don't expect the weight to come off quite yet, and I am on such a small amount that I may not have the miraculous drop in weight like others have had, but I'm okay with that. With my continued exercise and good diet, I'm sure I'll be back to where I was in no time. Like me, you may have to try a few different anti-depressants before you hit the right one. Hang in there and don't give up. If what you're taking isn't working for you, please speak to your doctor. You'll eventually find something that works well for you.

The memory loss for words and major weight loss u are having is from the topamax not the Wellbutrin. Maybe have them reduce your topamax dosage. But do it gradually. The withdrawal from topamax is awful I not tapered down.

My son (15) is taking 350 mg of Bupropion.  He has lost 12 lbs in a month and 1/2.  He also has trouble sleeping.  He has been on this medication (to treat depression) for about 3 months and in my view is not helping with his depression.  I see a lot of the posts talking about the weight loss and how wonderful that is but I really want to know if it is of significant help for depression. Has anyone had issues related to the weight loss, i.e, thyroid problems, etc..?

The wellbutrin really helped with my depression. I felt more motivated to do things and more energy. I also had a more positive mood. Initially, I lost 15 lbs within 1 month on 300mg. I was already only 100 lbs to begin with and ended up being 85lbs. It was ridiculous. I know how scary it must be to be a mom and witness your child losing so much weight so rapidly (my mother was scared for me too..she said all my bones were sticking out). Eventually though the weight loss side effect went away and I gained the weight back.  The only other side effect of the weight loss was that I started bleeding (like I had my period) every day for months. But that eventually subsided as well. Good luck to your son!
