I have been taking 150 mgs of bupropion for 2 years. A years ago something devastating happened to me and my dr. added 1mg of xanax. recently an new psychiatrist added lexapro, 10 mgs. I am on a lot of heart meds (I have an artificial mitral valve) and when I took them together, I got so nauseous, I was vomiting, so they doctor called me in something for nausea and told me to stop the lexapro. The thing is though, that the lexapro made me feel normal, not forgetful (ususally can't remember the words I want to say until 3-5 minutes later) I call it "my brain being on pause. I want to feel normal, not edgy and be able to speak intelligently. Any suggestions?

I was put on Wellbutrin by my doctor about six years ago, I had moved to a new city, new job and was very depressed. I found it helped and it also helped me take off some weight that another antidepressant had made me gain. I stayed on Wellbutrin for years. Then I found my depression increasing, I asked my doctor if it was possible I was becoming immune to it. I ended up going off and on for a few years. I felt like I needed it and I liked the added energy and weight loss I got at the beginning. I didn't like the memory loss and excessive sweating I encountered. I have battled my depression cold turkey. For the most part, most days are pretty good. However I do struggle with my weight. I work out doing Crossfit, I run and walk my dog, five to six days a week. I watch everything I eat, right now I am doing weight watchers yet I can't seem to lose weight. I have talked to my doctor before and he told me he thought i looked good and be happy with the way I am it could be worse. Well in my eyes it is worse, my weight in my depression. I don't look my weight but I weigh 170 pds, 5'5 and I almost turning the big 40 this year. I feel like i have the slowest metabolism ever. I often wornder if it has to do with being on Wellburtrin for so many years. I did find the generic was not as effective for me and my doctor gave me a prescription for the real brand. I still have some and I am considering trying it again for the weight loss. I am desperate to lose weight and if this helps even with ten pounds I would be happy. Has anyone encountered any of the above?

My doctor has decided to take me off of Effexor and put me on Wellbutrin. I have gained over 40 pounds and have developed high blood pressure. I wondered how you were when you were weaned off of Effexor. I am worried because I have forgotten some of my dosages a few times and felt horrible until I took my next dose. What was it like for you?

Yes I have the same issue. Using bizarre words not being able to think as fast. And I'm smart.

Welbutrin is the second antidepressant that i have tried. the first one was Cetalipram, but i had severe suicidal thoughts while i was on that, they may have been caused by the medication OR by the fact that i was havin some upset after gettin rejected by a girl i really like and stuff like that. but if anything ive gained a few pounds while ive been on Welbbutrin. i wish that it would make me lose some weight cuz im not exactly skinny lol

I dont think that Welbutrin is a Weight loss drug. as far as i know, its mainly for depression but can also help with ADHD

Nope sorry: it's the wellbutrin, and it's actually been shown to cause memory problems in studies so people aren't just imaging this side effect, nor is it due to eating habits and lack of rest.

Yes, I've experienced this. Works for about 2 weeks or a month or 2 depending on how long I've stayed off it, and then BAM suddenly it don't work no more (not for weight or depression or anything). I would stay off it and see if your body regulates and readjusts on its own bc I think wellbutrin causes more weight gain than loss in the long term. Also 170 at 5'5 is considered clinically overweight so your dr sounds like a self absorbed a hole (seriously did he even stop to look at you and consider that you might be happier at a healthier weight or did he just ignore all your concerns?).
