Hi. I'm 24 year old female and I have some questions about birth control pills. You see, till recently my boyfriend has used condom all the time but then, he recommended me some to try using birth control pill. He said that it will be easy for me to use and a lot easier for him also because condoms were making him nervous and uncomfortable.
So, I agreed and started using some pill called Yasmin. So I have used it for about a month but I started to feel some strange symptoms such as mood changes and nausea and weight gain so I stopped using it imidiately. Could this be caused by using this pill or am I exaggerating a bit?

Well, I don’t know a lot about these pills but I know that I have used them also and that I got almost the same symptoms.
Beside the symptoms you felt, I suffered also from irregular menstrual bleeding, dizziness and breast tenderness.
I have talked about this with my gynecologist and he told me that this is quite normal thing for a woman to feel firs few weeks of using these pills. He told me that this is part of body’s adopting mechanism and that all symptoms should disappear in about one or two months.
So, I kept using it and it was just like the doctor said- all my symptoms disappeared and even I have noticed some positive effects such as improved acne status and much lighter and painless bleeding.

I just stopped taking Yasmin...I had symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, horrible mood swings, and they just got worse. Yasmin has steroids in it that are supposed to prevent weight gain, which apparently isn't effective because I have been extremely diligent with my exercise routine and I've been eating well and still gained 15 pounds, and I think it all just made my mood way way worse.
