What do you do when it’s a rainy day and you have to train? I don’t mind rain, but its side effects are irritating, meaning car drivers splashing mud and water all over you, wet feet and squelching through ditches and similar things. How do you solve these inconveniences? Sometimes even the appropriate gear isn’t enough. Am I grumbling too much?

As a matter of fact, you do!  Just kidding, but as athletes we must know that weather conditions are not always on our side and we must get used to riding come rain or come shine. So, first of all you need a good will and strong motivation. Those are the most important factors. After that, equip your bike so that mud it splashes doesn’t end up on your back. A waterproof windbreaker and some good shoes to keep your feet dry. But bear in mind that there are no shoes safe enough, so bring additional pair of dry socks in order to change them when you feel that your shoes are soggy. And make sure that you’re visible, because drivers will have to see you. Maybe that windbreaker can be in a luminous color.
