After struggling with constant neck pain since an accident I has 4 years ago, I’ve finally been given an MRI and it's results show that I have patent neural formina of the cervical spine... can anyone help me to understand what is patent neural formina of the cervical spine?? Is that something serious??? Thanks in advance.

The cervical spine is made up of 7 bones which are separated by discs. What the MRI probably says is that the discs have dried out slightly and have bulges. These bulges are pushing on the spinal cord. I think that is what they mean by that term. Anyway, without reviewing your case and the whole MRI result, nobody can make a diagnosis or recommend treatment options. Good luck.

That is good new! Patent means you don' have anything herniated. Exercise (correct) yoga ithin means) water thereapy good all help! As a veterean of 12 spine surgieries I am a firm believer to try eexercise and EVERYthigng else except surgey. YOu will never feel as good as you think you should, that is just the way the back works!

But you don't need surgery so that is good--every thing is patent and not bulging or torn! HOOORAY!
