Hi, it sounds like you're experiencing a concerning and uncomfortable skin issue. Given your history of eczema, it's possible that the symptoms you're describing could be related to that or another skin condition. Here's some general advice and considerations:
-
Eczema or Dermatitis: Eczema can affect various parts of the body, including the breast and nipple area. It can cause itching, redness, and a cracked appearance of the skin.
-
Nipple Eczema: This is a specific type of eczema that affects the nipple and areola. It can cause itching, redness, scaling, and cracking.
-
Possible Infection: If the skin is cracked, there's a risk of infection, which might need medical treatment.
-
Nipple Changes in Adolescence: During adolescence, it's common to experience various changes in the breast and nipple due to hormonal fluctuations. However, any persistent, unusual, or concerning changes should be checked by a doctor.
-
Self-Care at Home: Until you can see a doctor, focus on gentle skin care. Avoid scratching the area, use mild, fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers, and avoid irritants like harsh fabrics or laundry detergents.
-
Breast Health Awareness: Being familiar with the normal appearance and feel of your breasts is important. Any changes, such as lumps, discharge, or persistent skin changes, should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.
