I'm 15 and I've had my period for about 2 or 3 years. I have not had sex, but I was planning on having sex with my boyfriend this summer. I've talked to both my parents and him about it and they all agreed with my choices and told me they werent going to rush me into anything, and that it was all my choice. For a couple of months, possibly a little longer, I've been noticing this white gooey stuff coming out of my vagina. Sometimes I notice that it has this horrid smell and I'm now rethinking about having sex with my boyfriend because I dont want him to know about it. I try so hard to keep my legs closed in school so that no one else can smell it. I even get scared about walking up the stairs with people behind me because I'm afraid they will smell it. Someone please help. I dont know what it is and its scaring me.

As you've not had sex yet, this is not a nasty infection of any kind. Most people have a natural discharge, it can be anwhere from clear to a whitish colour, but generally, it shouldn't be thick or lumpy or have a bad smell. If you've jut started noticing it, it could be thrush (yeast infection), sometimes this can happen if you use perfumed soaps, wear tight clothes etc. It's basically when the bad bacteria, that live in all of us, overtake the good stuff that keeps our vaginas healthy and stops you from being dry I suggest you just go to your doctor and they will give you a tablet and a steroid cream that will help to restore a natural balance. Thrush makes you sore, red and itchy and produces a thick creamy discharge sometimes with a smell like fish and the consistency of cottage cheese. It's probably absolutely nothing to be worried about at all.

Oh. Well its not thick or lumpy. It kind of looks like liquid mayo, not completely liquid but not as thick as it is. But I only find that it smells bad like once a week, not a horrible smell, but to where it smells.
