It is not a sign that your going to get your pereiod soon, it just meens that you have started puberty. I had it for about a year and gess what, I got my pereiod just this morning.

Ok girls, what you are experiencing has a technical name: Cervical Mucus and it is 100% normal. Every woman has it from puberty (any age from 9 years old+) to menopause (at age 45+).
It has several purposes, to keep your vagina, cervix and uterus protected from infection, and when you are MUCH older, to help sperm travel to the right place to conceive a baby. It will change color, texture etc during different stages of your cycle, from white and thick (sometimes a yellowish color) and creamy (almost like lotion) at the start of your cycle ,and the end, or thin, transparent and slippery around the time you ovulate (when an egg is released from your ovaries) it will clear up during your period, and start again after.
You will have this the rest of your fertile years, so the best way to deal with it is to wear pantyliners if you feel uncomfortable, have good hygiene, wash every day with mild soap ( or better yet, a feminine wash designed for this purpose, or baby wipes).
Having this is indeed a good indicator that you will start your periods soon, so talk to your mom, sister etc and have a small bag ready for when you start, have pads, and some mild pain relief, with you at home and possibly in your school bag ( as your period will start when it wants to, not when you want it to) and if you are hoping to use tampons, ask someone to explain how to use them, I would not advise using tampons on your very first period as they can take some practice to use them correctly.
Good luck and remember, dont freak out, it is totally normal, all women have it and you will get used to it!

I'm 16 and I need a pad for the discharge because a liner is too small. I have my periods but not regularly and they're really weak like I can barely know if I have them or not. It's really disturbing. (I'm a virgin)
