I've had transvaginal ultrasounds in the past, but this is the first time I felt so uncomfortable during and after the procedure. The tech would press so hard my abdomen and move the probe in all directions. She even made me lift my butt from the bed and hold it. Since then, and after 6 days I feel cramps and I am bloated.
Tomorrow I have to see the doctor for results. I am almost in panic cause that means results are abnormal. But we'll see. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I have had four ultrasounds so far this year, it's currently July. The one I had yesterday was so painful. I ended up taking a bunch of Tylenol with Codine to get past the pain. Then I almost fainted. Got the cold sweats. Felt dizzy. Same thing happened last time I had a large cyst rupture. So.. I am thinking that the pain I felt yesterday was because there was a cyst (I still don't have the results yet). Then all that poking and prodding caused it to rupture later in the day. I could be wrong. But this is what makes the most sense to me.

Sorry for your pain. I got a pelvic ultrasound yesterday and the probe poked me bad. I took 1500 mg of ibuprofen and it still hurts. They found a cyst on my ovary, fibroid tumor, and a endometrial polyp.

I dont have periods because I had a Hysterectomy ladt year so the pain being from period does not relate to my situation...im still waiting for my results...my Transvaginal was done last night and I never recall it being as painful as it was last night...but this time around Im having it done after a bunch of problems I have had because of my Hysterectomy...I got the Hysterectomy because Ovarian Cancer runs in my family...funny thing is they left my Ovaries in!! And tgey damaged my bladder and cut my right Ureter causing me major problems like complete right kidney function obstructed requiring an emergency Nephrostomy tube being jammed in my right kidney while laying down on my stomach wide awake...they just numbed a small area then jammed a big tube in my right kidney...having to carry a bag of urine around until my insides healed enough from the messed up Hysterectomy surgery then they had to reconstruct my cut Ureter...since then my health declined....im 41 and miss at least 2 to 3 days of work every two weeks from some medical complication now...a year later I am having a hard time emptying my bladder completely and now excruciating pain in left lower pelvic area.....they always try to tell me that everything looks normal....then why does it feel like knives stabbing me in my bladder and a pressure like a bowling ball when i try to stand....its crazy....Im giving it to the Lord and praying for wisdom for the doctors to finally tell me what is going on... Good luck and God Bless

I had my first vaginal ultrasound just yesterday, and it was so painful. I once passed a small kidney stone that was less painful. I am going to talk to my doctor to see if I can get some answers.

I had a Vaginal Ultra Sound yesterday 26/10/16 there were certain spots that hurt when woman was poking around.I was also told that she could not find my ovaries,so she was doing a deep search, which felt like bad cramping in my tummy.I thought "Can't find my Ovaries?,you have probably pushed them to the top of my bloody head" When I came out,my back and tummy felt awful. I actually felt sick yesterday. All day today my tummy has felt bloated, cramping and backache.I was already booked for the same day to have a camera inside to have a look around, only to be told that it had been cancelled because the doctor who was going to do it had left?? They did not even inform me.So another trip form me this coming Sunday.Just hope this horrible cramping goes away

I had one yesterday and it hurt so badly she had to stop. I have to go back now for a full bladder abdominal scan so they can see the pelvic area behind it She suggested I take pain killers before I go so that they have the choice of emptying my bladder and trying the ultrasound again. This is the second time it has happened already. I cant think of an over counter pain killer that will stop me feeling that pain.

Mine was exactly the same the pain was on my right side but turned out to have cyst on left ovary back again today to check if grown or shrunk as they will not refer in the UK until at least 5cm last check was three cm x

In the beggining it wasn't painful it just felt uncomfortable but lord.. Once she was trying to see my left ovary that hurt so bad. It literally felt as if someone was stabbing me & i'm not even exagerrating. Also keep in mind I have a high pain in tolerance. I asked the sonographer if it is normal to feel a lot of pain & she said that it's not. She said that all of the patients she has done the transvaginal ultrasound on before actually told her that she is very gentle compared to other sonographers.

Did you get any answers from your doctor? When the sonographer moved the stick to a certain spot to see my left ovary man did it hurt & now i'm concerned as well. I'm going to talk to my Gyno about this.

I don't think so I also felt a lot of pain my tech was great, she was gentle & put a lot of gel or whataver it's called on the stick so that way it wont hurt as much. Even though it still hurt so bad..
