Hiya

I have been having lower left abdominal pain for about 5/6 months now, sometimes just a dull ache, other times like sharp shooting pains. It is also painful when going loo, or straining, and coughing, and sexual intercourse has been very uncomfortable for a while.

I've been back to the doctors soooo many times as I've known something isn't right and frankly they've been a bit hopeless, it was only a couple of weeks ago that finally they sent me to the hospital for a transvaginal ultrasound. The lady who did my ultrasound told me I have a cyst on my left ovary, measuring just over an inch, but that's all she would say, I don't yet know what kind of cyst it is or where on the ovary it is etc.

I have an appointment on Tuesday to see my GP to find out more. I was hoping to hear from anyone that has had a cyst of this size, and the same sort of symptoms, and if so....what was done about it?

I've got a feeling, that as my doctors have taken so long to even send me for an ultrasound, that they are just gonna say to watch and wait. Can I request to have the cyst removed as it's been causing me constant pain now for so long? I don't think I can carry on feeling this crappy for another few months and it is affecting my relationship in the bedroom department.

I'm 27 years old, no children as yet, and I have the Implanon implant in my arm and have been getting pretty much normal periods.

Any comments would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much x

Not sure im going to help. But i too have cysts on my overies. I use too get the same symptoms. The pain some times was so bad i couldnt move till it went off. That happened mainly if i turned over fast in bed.
My doctor told me that the condition makes your hormones drop and that was why i felt down and depressed.
I was put on the pill to regulate my hormone levels. It worked for five years but now im getting all the symptoms back.
Iv been back the doctors an im waiting to go back for another scan.
Its called Polycystic ovaries. An it can make you infertile, But not always and there is plenty of help out there these days.
