I am relieved someone else is going through the same thing as me!!! I had a total hysterectomy (abdominal) in January 2014. The recovery time was hell, but a year later I noticed some strange issues with my bowels. Major constipation; no matter how hard I pushed, it wouldn't exit, so I found a way to help it along by pushing on my vaginal wall. Hemroids all the time, and the bright red bleeding freaked me out. I kept telling my PCP I was in menopause, and my hormones were causing anxiety attacks, mood swings, depression band an array of other issues. PCP gave me Zoloft and sent me on my way. :/ Finally made an appointment with an endocrinologist. They confirmed my menopause suspicions (I'm 38) and found my kidneys and liver were not functioning correctly, pituitary gland was a mess and my adrenal gland was producing an insane amount of testosterone. They have finally leveled out my hormones (without actual hormone medication) but the side effect: constipation. I have to eat low carb now, like forever. Another issue was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 (I'm 5'8", 200 pounds) Lost about 15 pounds, and insulting is under control, but my guts are killing me. I've ended up living off fiber pills and prunes. It's the left side of my abdomen that is always in pain. If I eat like a rabbit, I'm fine. Any carbs at all, I'm backed up and laying on my side crying. I've even done salt water flushes just to ease the pain. I can feel where everything is getting stuck and it's always the same spot. I'm glad that I had my hysterectomy, but the bowel issues are starting to really scare me. I guess my next option is to go to another doctor. Ugh!!!
