Hysterectomy Success Stories

I had hysterectomy last summer, and there was nothing horrible about it. On the contrary, it was very successful. Of course, it was not an easy experience, but it had to be done. My doctor recommended it to me because I had persistent vaginal bleeding. My blood picture was really bad and I was anemic. After the hysterectomy, I had to recover for several days in the hospital. When I went back home, my husband was helping me to walk and dress, but as soon as I felt better, I continued with my life like nothing happened. The only changed thing after the hysterectomy was my blood picture, which improved a lot. Don’t be scared of all those stories, I hope my experience with successful hysterectomy will give you some courage to do it.

HI, MY NAME IS SHARI ANN.. I HAD FIBROID TUMORS ABOUT 7 SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED FIBROID TUMORS. BEFORE I HAD MY HYSERECTOMY, DAY IN AND DAY OUT ALL I MOSTLY DID WAS TRY AND MAKE IT TO THE BATHROOM SINCE MY MENSTRAL CYCLES WERE SO HEAVY.. I'D HAVE A CYCLE ABOUT 3 WEEKS OUT OF A MONTH. SO, TO SHARE MY SUCCESS STORY WITH YOU, ONCE I HAD MY HYSTERECTOMY IN JUNE OF 2008 I HAVEN'T HAD A CYCLE, NO-SPOTTING, AND IT'S BEEN GREAT SINCE MY SURGERY. TAKE CARE.

Thanks ladies for the positive posts - I needed to see these. The horror stories I have read are about loss of bladder control and lack of interest in sex. Have any of you noticed these negative side effects or all has been well in those areas also? My dr has just recommended that I have a hysterectomy due to my large fibroid tumor and extremely heavy bleeding that lasts weeks. I am miserable and would love that to all stop and feel good again. But I also worry about these things because no one wants to have bad bladder issues, sex issues and early menopause.

I would also like to know if these issues are true as I’m contemplated hysterectomy as I have endometriosis,had previous surgery for it alrdy had 1 ovary removed.i too worry about the sexual side .
