Hi,
I'm not going to make excuses. This is what I've dealt with for most of my life.
Mad a child I had bad asthma, constantly on steroid inhalers for many years, when I would get colds as I grew up, they were so bad that I would end up having to take time off school for longer then normal. Or when I was a baby and was so sick from some cold, I stopped breathing and had to be in an oxygen tent for days.
Ex. My brother had chicken pox that looked like he had basic acne and I looked like a loaded pizza with tons of pepperoni. Like I'm talking, everywhere. In my eye lids, in my mouth, ears, nose, EVERYWHERE.
I fifths disease. Uncommon to come across from what I heard since it's a mixture of measles and mumps and I was vaccinated as a child.
My allergies were and are still very bad. Constantly congested, swollen tonsils, constant use of inhalers because of how bad my asthma reacted to my allergies.
Fast forward to my first year of college, after dealing with migraines in high school, my body started to blow up with hives. Randomly between April to October. Then the swelling would happen. I wouldn't be able to close my hands because of how big they would get. My lips would swell as would all my joints. Then after 2 years of this, My body began to go anaphylactic. Would you like to guess the med that they put me on? Prednisone. And lots of it. And now I have to carry a box of medication on me at all times.
I went to specialists, allergists, internists, and they couldn't find what was wrong with me. Until I went to a hospital in Hamilton Ontario, where they told me that I am IGA deficient. A very rare auto immune disorder where your immune system doesn't work. I finally had a name for it but unfortunately, there is no cure, and there is no specific medication to help with it other then experimental stuff of which I cannot pay for because I don't have benefits. So I am now having to take 5-8 allergy pills per day as well as vitamins that my body doesn't produce. But I still have to take steroids when a flare up happens.
From having to take these meds, it has been so hard to lose weight. I've done the healthy life style change and working out for 2 hours 6 days a week for 8 months and lost no weight. Nothing. Not one pound. Very devastated I ended up not working out anymore and my old eating habits came back. I've done the shake programs. I've removed foods from my diet like fast food. And I've done walking and work out classes. Nothing. Nothing has worked. Because the minute I try to do it my body has a flare up and I'm back on prednisone.
I'm 24 and want to be able to experience life. Not stay inside for months to prevent my body from having a flare up. And I continue to gain weight. I had my tonsils removed a month ago and I drank water and had 3-4 mouth fulls of Apple sauce to take my meds every 4 hours.... Okay? I wasn't eating anything. I was drinking water and basically fasting. I LOST NO WEIGHT. 3 weeks of barely eating and nothing.
I don't understand why. It makes no sense to me. Doesn't matter what I do I continue to gain weight and not lose any. If there is anyone that could help, I'll be forever greatful!
