Am I still a virgin?

I know this may sound stupid but I'm really uncertain. Last night my boyfriend and I attempted to have sex but sort of failed (I'm a virgin and he's not) because I think I was too tense. We tried a couple of times and it got kind of painful but we never really had sex and he kind of made a point of saying that we didn't have sex. Last night and today I've had blood spotting and I don't know whether or not my haymen broke. There wasn't much blood at all when we were trying and there isn't now but it's there all the same and I don't know how or why else it would be there (I definately don't have my period). Please help.
