New study found that people who suffer from fibromyalgia can have benefits from regular dip in a warm swimming pool and that it can help them to ease the pain from this disease which involves chronic and severe pain and tenderness in muscles, ligaments and tendons along with problems with sleep, anxiety and depression. Statistics found that more than 90% of females suffer from this condition.
Recent study conducted a research which involved 33 female fibromyalgia patients and during the research 17 women took part in supervised training exercises in warm water three times a week for one hour in a period of 8 months. The rest of women didn’t participated in aquatic training.
Results of the study confirmed that this kind of exercise program is effective in reducing pain and improving the health – related quality of life of all participants in the study. Researchers agree that aquatic exercise for treating fibromyalgia is cost –effective in terms of both health care costs and societal costs.
