Hi,
I’ve had ileostomy and ended up with stoma 6 months ago. It’s not been easy getting used to it, but what I didn’t expect is for stoma to continue producing burping, squishing and even farting noises! It’s seems to be producing all kinds of sounds pretty much all the time and I feel embarrassed by most of them even when there’s only family around because there is no way for me to control this. It doesn’t matter if I eaten recently or not.
I was looking inline and saw several ostomy sound mufflers and not only do they seem overly expensive, I’m not too keen on putting more stuff to carry around with me. Does anybody have experience with this situation? Do you use stoma sound mufflers or are there they just additional weight and waste of money?
Thanks for any help,
Bob

I am so sorry to hear that you are having problems with this problem. It is enough to worry about the odor and other inconveniences that come with having an ileostomy than to have the sounds it can produce. I wouldn't invest in anything off the Internet until trying a few things that are cheaper to try. Have you tried place a small padding over the area? Maybe finding a material that is thick enough to absorb the sounds but thin enough to be comfortable to wear. Aside from that, I am unsure how you can calm the noisy stoma. Good luck!
