Hi, I will have ileostomy done in a week, so I could use some more information about this procedure and it’s effectiveness?

Ileostomies is done in cases when the large intestine becomes incapable of collecting intestinal waste, so when the colon has been completely removed. Such diseases are: Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, familial adenomatous polyposis . An ileostomy is a stoma, that has been applied to be connected with the end of the small intestine. It ‘s function is to collect waste material that are normally accumulated in the lungs. Intestinal waste passes out of the ileostomy and is taken in an external bag. Most ileostomies are placed above the groin on the right side.
